Re: What is Each Album's Major Flaw?: Binaural
I fully admit that I loved Soon Forget when I first heard it because of its uniqueness. Nothing else like it the catalog up to that point. I was blown away by a uke when that dropped. Unreal.
Of course the song doesn't hold up well to repeated listens, especially 14 years of repeated listens. But at the time, I thought it was a pure joy.

I still think it is. I also love uke songs. I also think Binaural is perfect.

I should also add that while I don't think Soon Forget holds up as well 14 years later, I do think Breakerfall and Gods' Dice have both aged really well. Those are two songs that get better and better each year. They more than off set what ever Soon Forget lacks.

I love the unabashed crassness of "Gods Dice"'s key change

It's not anything in the melodic or instrumental construction of Soon Forget that grates, it's the dopey sentiment and some of the sillier lyrics that really drag it down.

I wish they'd give the rest of uke songs the full band treatment

If I was to ever get a PJ tattoo it would be lyrics from Light Years.

Can't keep is awesome but eds sleeping by myself is much better than the bands.
It's not uninteresting but I think they've done that and they aren't going to do better so should now step away from the other songs.

I think the full band version of sleeping by myself is definitely better, and I like the uke version quite a bit. That and can't keep were uke home runs

Ukulele Songs passes as acceptable mellow background music.
Give me the full band over Ed solo any time please.

Is "I have deciphered tricks at the bar" a fancy way of saying "I've gotten drunk and paid for sex"?

Or is it "I understand how to get sluts to go home with me after buying them umbrella drinks" ?
