How To Train Your Dragon 2
The first one was probably my favorite of the kids movies to come out in the last couple years.

Best animated kids movies of the past 5 years.@SkitchP wrote:The first one was probably my favorite of the kids movies to come out in the last couple years.
1. WALL-E
2. How to Train Your Dragon
3. Up
4. Toy Story 3
5. Spot reserved for weird-ass Anime movie with an ending a decently educated man of 40 couldn't understand, much less my 5-year-old.

Aside from the usual suspects noted above my kids are totally into Tangled and Ratatouille at the moment. Prior to that it was The Lorax and Wreck It Ralph.
We're keen to see Despicable Me 2 and looking forward to HTTYD2 and Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2.

Re: How To Train Your Dragon 2
I look forward to watching this. I thought the first one was really good. My only problem with it was just how completely predictable it iwas-- I could pretty much tell you how the whole thing was going down after the first 10 minutes of film. But it's a really charming movie and I love the friendship between Toothless and Hiccup.

The only memorably good animated kids' movies I've seen from the last five years are Fantastic Mr. Fox and ParaNorman. Should I actually give these a shot?

Watch "Mary and Max" if you haven't already. A stunning Australian animated film (beautiful claymation) with a wonderful performance by Philip Seymour Hoffman. Though I guess that probably wouldn't count as a "kids' movie".LoathedVermin72 wrote:The only memorably good animated kids' movies I've seen from the last five years are Fantastic Mr. Fox and ParaNorman. You and I dont share a ton of similar movie interest, but of all the things I have watched since I had kids, I have found this the infinitely most enjoyable. Even more than the pixar stuff. So many kids movies require "Wink-Wink" moments to keep the parents engaged, be it through double entendre or op culture references. This doesn't. It's basically a straight ahead fairy tale that relies on the genuine affection they build in their main characters. And I think visually it is very well done as well.
