Aside from the usual suspects noted above my kids are totally into Tangled and Ratatouille at the moment. Prior to that it was The Lorax and Wreck It Ralph.

We're keen to see Despicable Me 2 and looking forward to HTTYD2 and Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2.

I took my 8 year old to see Despicable Me 2 yesterday.

It was ok....he loved it.

I kinda figured Stoick was going to die based on some reviews referring to a moment that would be tough for kids. But I was absolutely blindsided by the fact it was toothless that ends up doing it. A very dark moment for a kids movie. Is there a darker one?
The first one that came mind was Bambi's mother obviously, but she was killed by a faceless hunter. Land Before Time? I dont know. I mean this was one of the films primary good guys succumbing and killing one of the primary good guys.
It's kinda stuck with me

I look forward to watching this. I thought the first one was really good. My only problem with it was just how completely predictable it iwas-- I could pretty much tell you how the whole thing was going down after the first 10 minutes of film. But it's a really charming movie and I love the friendship between Toothless and Hiccup.

Watch "Mary and Max" if you haven't already. A stunning Australian animated film (beautiful claymation) with a wonderful performance by Philip Seymour Hoffman. Though I guess that probably wouldn't count as a "kids' movie".

You and I dont share a ton of similar movie interest, but of all the things I have watched since I had kids, I have found this the infinitely most enjoyable. Even more than the pixar stuff. So many kids movies require "Wink-Wink" moments to keep the parents engaged, be it through double entendre or op culture references. This doesn't. It's basically a straight ahead fairy tale that relies on the genuine affection they build in their main characters. And I think visually it is very well done as well.
