Fooled ya all. Mix #4 was me, and I'll take all the SNC guesses as a compliment.

I tried to take a snapshot of things I've been listening to lately, as well as songs that kinda stuck in my mind the past year or two, plus a few local/PNW bands that I dig. Listening back on it, I probably would have done a couple of things differently, but eh, whatcha gonna do. Agreed that the first half is a little weaker than the second half... The second half contains some of my favorite songs lately.

I've started listening to 5, although I won't be reviewing it for a few days. This is certainly different and much more ambitious than what we've seen before.

I've been pretty busy lately and fell behind with this thread. But thanks for thinking that one was mine. Guess it was on account of the obscurity? Heathen was right, aside from Basinski, whom I enjoy immensely, none of that was really my thing. But it does sound like it's worth a listen.

Can we save the track by track reviews to one post? It's annoying to read otherwise. And why isn't anyone doing art for their mixes, you slack asses?

OK, so this mix has taken a fair degree of effort, to the point of even mixing in various dialogue in certain places, as well as cross fades between every track and filler pieces - most impressive. Overall the mix sets a lovely scene, and for the main stays true to it, I've listened through numerous times at work and the jazz beats and mellow tones haven't been out of place at all. When it does yell out it does so with restraint, and once again those moments aren't out of place with the overall feel.

There's no point me reviewing it track-by-track as it has been presented as a 'Side A' and 'Side B' proposition, both sides pretty seamless (again - amazing effort from the mix-maker here). Suffice to say that this was a most enjoyable and rewarding listen and the complete mix will certainly get a few more plays as the mood suits - at work, late at night when I'm reading or on a lazy Sunday morning sitting around. An excellent job indeedy.

I'm fairly confident that I know whose mix this is too, courtesy of the few tracks I recognised - specifically the lovely piano-lead early track on Side B. Mind you I thought that about the last mix too, didn't I, and look how wrong I was!

I gave this a second listen this morning. I'll post a review at some point later today. But as Varis said, as a work of craft this is extremely impressive.
