Got my copy of This Machine Kills Artists in the mail today. Listening now. I know this isn't a Melvins album, but it's my favorite Melvins album in years.

Re: Albums of 2014
Steve Gunn has been a stalwart of the American experimental scene for closing in on a decade. He has a prodigious talent for fusing traditional American song structures with a raga influence and is known by many for his contributions as one half of the core duo behind GHQ (with Marcia Bassett) as well as for his many other affiliations with underground luminaries such as Tom Carter, The Magik Markers and Marc Orleans.
Paradise of Bachelors will release Way Out Weather, Gunn’s follow-up to the critically acclaimed Time Off, on October 7, 2014. A heady and elliptical travelogue, Way Out Weather demonstrates a radical widescreen evolution, featuring a larger band and lighting out for lusher, more expansive, and impressionistic territories than Time Off. This is the virtuosic guitarist and songwriter’s career-defining statement to date, a self-assured masterpiece.

I sure like the sound of that, SNC.
Best of all, it's available as a 'pay-what-you-want' Bandcamp download!

Zammuto - "Great Equator" from their second album, Anchor, out September 2.
I was one of the Indiegogo backers for this album, so I got to hear the whole thing a couple of months ago when recording was finished. It's pretty good, definitely recommended if you liked the first album, or anything The Books did.

Earth were really good. It got a bit samey but I still liked the vibe. Carlson looks more like an prison inmate each time I see him. SUNN O))) just pulverized me.Birds in Hell wrote:They were fantastic when they were here a couple of years back, too bad they're skipping Adelaide this time around.

Dylan Carlson seriously looks about 800 years old at this point.

Listening to this now, and I gotta say that it is fantastic!Mojopin wrote:This has my interest for sure!Heathen wrote:been waiting for this one for 18 monthes, looks like it'll will finally come out next year
I've spent a lot of time alluding to this record's existence so it is with great joy and nervousness that I present the title, tracklisting and artwork for the second full-length Musk Ox album...
Woodfall
Part 1 - Earthrise (9:24)
Part 2 ...- Windswept (10:44)
Part 3 - Arcanum (17:35)
Part 4 - Above the Clouds (10:28)
Part 5 - Serenade the Constellations (17:46)
The album is a 65min epic for classical guitar, cello and violin. It's been a long time coming and I thank you all for your patience and support. Myself, Raph and Evan worked extremely hard on this recording and are excited to have you hear it. An official release date will be announced in the new year.
