The Adam destroying things/running to Hannah was over the top and out of character for the series.
I agree. The Marni/Charlie storyline was pretty lame too but other than that I thought was good enough.
I thought the first half of season was better than the second. By comparison to last when I really started digging it midway through its year.

Pretty much a fun and "happy" episode...after the dark one last week i feel they needed to go in a different route because it was the ending..and its ok. I dont like how adam and Hanna are back, but i do appreciate how he is still there for her, and i adore what laird said to her. Good stuff. The same with Marnie telling Charlie she is not with him because of his money....

Fuck marne. What a load of shit. She didn't want him until he was successful.
A friend of mine summed up the finale well: it's like the writers took the day off and the writers from Friends came in and wrote the episode.

the writers took the prior two weeks off as well and farmed it out to the writers from Monk.

News in Brief• Entertainment• ISSUE 49•11• Mar 14, 2013
NEW YORK—According to numerous critics’ reports, an upcoming episode of HBO’s hit comedy Girls features the show’s star, Lena Dunham, losing control of her bowels during a routine gynecological exam while eating a large burrito. “The scene is raw, it’s brave, and it’s the boldest thing we’ve seen Dunham do yet: a smart, unsanitized comedy of errors that perfectly captures the experience of being at the ob-gyn,” said Huffington Post television critic Kia Makarechi of the envelope-pushing episode, wherein the burrito-eating Dunham elects to be examined completely nude because hospital gowns make her “feel like she’s dying of bone cancer or something” and awkwardly flirts with the 55-year-old gynecologist before violently shitting herself and then asking if the doctor can prescribe her anything for her anxiety. “When a naked Hannah dribbled hot sauce all over herself in front of the doctor, shit in every corner of the office, cried, became angry with the doctor, had sex with the doctor, finished her burrito, had sex with the doctor again, shit herself again, and then realized who she was really angry at and sexually attracted to was Adam, I just closed my eyes and said, ‘Thank you.’ These are real girls with real bodies doing things that real girls do.” At press time, fans were abuzz after a tweet from Dunham hinted at an all-nude third season.
I loved the finale. I don't think it was as good as the penultimate episode, but still, I thought it was solid. Loved Ray and Shosh. Their break up scene was outstanding.
Marnie... I just don't know about that chick. Charlie needs to be careful.
I miss Jessa. Hannah's desperate call to her at the end was heartbreaking. Beautifully written. So honest and tender and somehow equally hysterical. That's Lena's real gift, I think. She might be a genius.
Adam "rescuing" Hannah didn't feel out of character to me. But the music underscoring and the scope of it was a bit over the top. But I think that was intentional. I think we (the audience) was supposed to find it cheesy.
Loved all the character progressions. Especially loved seeing Hannah's dad stand up to her.
Fun fact, I watched them filming part of this episode. They shot it in my neighborhood. Adam running in front of the deli and then down the street in front of the row houses, was all shot around the corner from me. I'm JUST out of frame (you can't see me, but I'm standing there), on the corner, as Adam turns and runs in front of the deli.
Anyway, I loved this season. I thought it did everything it needed to do coming off that brilliant first season. I probably liked the season one finale more, but I still thought this was a fitting ending. Really looking forward to next season. I love where this show is going.
After two seasons, I'm ready to call it the 4th best show on TV. Hands down.
