Pearl Jam has a bunch of songs I don't like. But I think the only studio song I'm going to call flat out bad is supersonic.

I'd be totally psyched to hear this live

usual lyrical fuck ups though
I was at that show, and that performance changed my opinion of the song. Mike fucking slayed that thing.

He sounds great. The high pitched raspy screams he is doing from certain songs off the Lightning Bolt album are difficult to perform night after night. But thats Ed for you, as time goes on he seems to try new more challenging tones. If they play something like Glorified G, he sounds exactly the same as years ago "always keep it loaded!!!". The new material has some really high pitched screaming, not easy to do. They are a great band, going to a show is a really amazing experience every time, I saw them the last time they were at MSG and his voice was so round and powerful, a mystical energy to it. The man is in great form and continues to produce original material, solo shows, a hard worker. AS USUAL. A very common thing I have heard for years from other fans is "they dont have one bad song". I agree. They don't need "attention" they have PLENTY of it all over the world. It was clearly for his daughters. Yeah Ed's sitting back going "you know all those 4 year olds using youtube will come across this clip, I can really have that demographic, so when im 85 years old I got the fan base of that Frozen era" Internet media picked up on it because they always have to keep stories going, lame ones too. I actually saw a story on Yahoo with a headline that read "So and so (young pop star) has a pimple" I shit you not! Its all garbage stories that will vanish from the publics mind in 5 seconds.

"They never play together and it shows"

They have been playing together for over 20 years!! They know what they are doing, they are one of the tightest bands ever. Matt and Jeff are an amazing duo. You are so jaded and negative. They have been working within the context of rock and producing original music within the genre which is not easy. Look at a song like Grievance, the arrangement is one of the most unique forms of songwriting within rock ever. I can go on and on.

I'll repeat three things I've already said:

1) Today's PJ remind me of "when George Costanza did the opposite and everything worked out....except with Pearl Jam, they are doing the opposite and the result is the opposite of what happened for George."
2) PJ have become "a band seeking attention like an aging, old, grotesque, botox-filled, former super model."
3) PJ's "lead singer, who once sounded good, now sounds like....

...A. Seal. With. Laryngitis."

That is all. Truth hurts. IlluminEddie out.

it makes more sense once you understand that my little pony replaced stuff like this

So getting to watch My Little Pony was a watershed moment in little girl parenting

In my day, kid's cartoons had lots of guns in them. I'll never forget when Barbie shot that homeless guy for the fun of it. It was ok though because they had a message about fire safety at the end.

I just looked at your blog. I can't believe they don't have you doing concept art for My Little Pony yet

Damn, dude... That one hurts.

I gotta say, you lost me when you said they became amazing in 1998. That was close to the time they started slipping out of amazing status, became great for about 5-7 years, then eventually slipped into the self-celebratory, sell-out, turn-their-back-on-their-own-principles joke of a classic rock band that they are now.

Yes, I buy into the post-Riot Act moneygrab theory.

On my birthday my daughter picked Winter Wrap Up as her evening show because she knows it's my favorite.

Their look is pretty much set in stone at this point. My re-imagining wouldn't connect with furry convention goers.

is the Brony thing dads watching the show with their kids, or like full fledged independent people getting into this? Because I really like the show in the context of watching it with Ellie and sharing it with her, but when she goes to bed I am not busting out the DVDS myself (at least not when my wife is home)
