I don't know if I hear much of them trying to crassly 'sound like PJ' on Backspacer, barring the previous examples of Amongst the Waves and maybe Unthought Known. I hear much more of them trying styles that, at least in this instance, they just weren't good at.

Can confirm that they are recording at Henson in LA. Ran into Stone in the parking lot today.

and even then, those are anthematic wells PJ has mined many times in the past. Hell, if you're going to nail severed hands for the porch comparison then why not nail parting way for long road and 1/2 full for Red Mosquito

i always likened 1/2 full to dissident, but yeah that's a formula that they could copy on every album.

years ago, when they cared about music, they wouldn't have taken the time to go out for breakfast and spend $10 on a plate of eggs. They would have worked through all their meals and drawn sustenance from all the creative energy in the air.

Josh Freese, a drummer for numerous alternative rock bands, tweeted last Wednesday, “Breakfast today w/Matt Cameron and Stone Gossard. Headed home to shower and wash the grunge off (and vacuum to pick up those names dropped).”
Haha, I love Josh Freese.

There must be some rift in the band since the rest of the members didn't join. I'll just assume they weren't invited.

Maybe they are discussing bringing in Freese to replace cameron? breakfast appears to be the time of day when PJ does their best firing!

Did you say sorry?
While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

This would be awesome, if only to create more debate on RM.

why did stip start a new thread when we had this one? There's nothing "official" about those supposed songs that B has.

man, that was a d*ck move by stip and B.

And really obvious one from BS like Unthought known and Especially Amongst the waves.
I can never decide if the band naturally fall back into writing these songs or its a contrivance. As much as I like Backspacer, those songs feel a lot more contrived in an forced effort to write a Pj anthem that sounds like Pj. The contrivance is present on ST too, just they seemed to have gotten better at it on Backspacer.
Maybe it's just time away from the record, but Severed Hand, Marker, WWS and Comatose are "revitalized" in my mind at the moment.

I find myself listening to these tunes more often now in my car, on my iPod at the gym and on my home PC.
