I believe that's what the reports were; I have no idea if that offer has changed or increased, which it would have to....we shall see.MattA75 wrote:What the Red Sox offered was an insult, wasn't it 4 years and $70 million?Coach wrote:To be fair, didn't Lester invite the low ball offers a bit with his comments about a hometown discount, which I understand he has since re-phrased, but still....

They are certainly operating like they arent really interested in re-signing him for anything more than a deep discount.

Now that he's getting a game in CF, the only field position Holt hasn't played this year is SS, his natural position.

That's cray-cray. Also, he ended up being the best piece of the Joel Hanrahan trade, huh?

Melancon was pretty good for PIT last year, I have no clue how he's doing this year.

He actually looks like he's doing pretty well; sorry for exposing my AL bias. But Holt obviously ended up being a diamond in the rough for us.

Absolutely, I actually liked the look of him in his limited time last year. If he can turn into a Ben Zobrist type that trade goes from being a bust to being a coup.

Was at work today and missed the game, but holy crap, even looking at the linescore you can tell that this is one of the weirdest games they'll play all year.

Did they just sweep a series while scoring 5 runs total?

Mazz said on the Baseball Reporters Show today that the Sox had done something similar to this up in Toronto in 1990. I love that show.numbers wrote:Did they just sweep a series while scoring 5 runs total?

I like how the postgame shows on NESN are now just a half hour about how awesome Brock Holt is and a half hour about how great their farm system is, and the game that they just lost is totally ignored.

I have tickets to the game Tuesday, but rather than attend a shutout loss, I'm leaning towards staying home so I can watch the soccer game.

That's about as close as my mindset is right now. Still on fumes from the WS win in the near past, hoping that the near future looks good...and just zoning out the present right now.numbers wrote:I like how the postgame shows on NESN are now just a half hour about how awesome Brock Holt is and a half hour about how great their farm system is, and the game that they just lost is totally ignored.

I've never seen so many different companies giving away Sox tickets via promos, etc.

However, I'm glad I tuned in tonight. Easily the best game of the season.

Re: Boston Red Sox Thread
It's wild that the Sox are only 6 games out in the division and the wild card. That's not insurmountable.
