I've never heard of that song before, but it leads me to believe that Lament is a man who would have been at home in any decade.

When I was 8 years old this song totally transformed everything 8 year old me thought he knew about what music was supposed to be. This was awesome.

Then I got older and decided that I knew everything about what music was supposed to be. This was stupid.

Then I got even older and decided that I don't know as much as I think I do and that this song did, in fact, help change the way people (white people, anyway) think about what music could be. And it is awesome.

I had a California Raisins tee shirt with pin sun glasses that went over their eyes. I forgot all about that.
