Hold On from Ten sessions?!
I'm not always on top of things, but when the hell did THIS surface?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDdFzuDVdN8
Notes: Yes, this is really (and clearly) from the Ten sessions as evidenced by the drums and vocals (esp. the backing vocals)
This is as complete as the Vs. version! Way more polished than SOLAT for instance.
If this has been discussed before, feel free and link me and close, but holy shit this is crazy good.

No, that's the Vs. version.
Edit: To be clear, there are 4 studio versions of this song (that I know of) -
Ten sessions (my link above)
Vs. sessions electric w/original vocal (your link)
Vs. sessions electric w/re-recorded vocal (Lost Dogs)
Vs. sessions acoustic (Vs. re-release)

Re: Hold On from Ten sessions?!
There is no "Vs. electric" version. The Lost Dogs liner notes are wrong. The link that hlniv posted is for the same version in your youtube link. The "Lost Dogs" version is the Ten Outtake with the vocals and bass re-recorded.twoheadedboy wrote:No, that's the Vs. version.

Re: Hold On from Ten sessions?!
I don't have the original vocals version available right now (anyone have a link on Youtube or Sound Cloud?), but I don't think that's right. Besides the differences in vocals and and drums I'm noticing, there's also...
-Drumless intro is longer (compared to Lost Dogs version, which IIRC was the same structurally as the version with the original vocals)
-I don't remember that Ed howl in the beginning either

No, they're the same. I just overlayed them, they line up perfectly.twoheadedboy wrote:I don't have the original vocals version available right now (anyone have a link on Youtube or Sound Cloud?), but I don't think that's right. There are three versions
Ten outtake (PJ unreleased rarities set)
Lost Dogs (Ten outtake with re-recorded vocals/bass)
Vs. box set acoustic

It was a good idea to re-record the bass. Jeff made some bizarre choices in the original.

It's clearly Krusen, not Abbruzzese, on drums.

Re: Hold On from Ten sessions?!
When did they re-record the vocals and bass? During the Vs. sessions? Or did they re-record that specifically for the Lost Dogs release? Jeff's bass could be from any era but the vocals on the LD version don't sound like 2003 Eddie to me.

I'm fairly certain the additional recording was done in 2003.darthvedder81 wrote:When did they re-record the vocals and bass? During the Vs. sessions? I haven't heard this recently but remember playing it once and not again due to the bass - it was like he can't hear himself in the monitor or was just screwing around trying to find a part.theplatypus wrote:It was a good idea to re-record the bass. Jeff made some bizarre choices in the original.
While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.
