i'm not sure where I come down on the Simon/Zandt actual debate though. I think Zandt is right, but did Graceland do important work bringing black south African musical culture (and with it, the people) to a wider audience that would then become more sympathetic? Maybe...

If Simon just kinda wanted to record with these guys for the hell of it devoid of any political context then I certainly am on Zandt's side.

Good point. Actually a few notes on the didge should do it - especially if I go with a well-chosen Yoko Ono tune to catch his attention.
