I agree with this, except that I'd argue that the performances were generally very good. The actors had heart and soul, but they were contained within this entity that just couldn't care less.
Agreed.

i think its perfectly acceptable to try to translate a "arc" from comic to film

i think old man logan will/would be awesome but i think more of the marvel universe needs to be explored before that can happen.

i would pull my pants down and jerk off if they ever said they were doing a Mutant Massacre film(s)

sin eater would be fantastic for spiderman

not all arcs can make for good movie telling (hence why some get mushed together and even still suck, dark phoenix/the cure)

Comics are basically story boards. I can't think of a medium more ready made for direct translation to film. Comics also lend themselves to constant reinvention so I don't really care if any of these adaptions stray from continuity since comics are always screwing with that anyways. I read GOTG but I'm certainly not married to any of their mythology. The film makers can do what they want as far as I'm concerend. The only character I'm really attached too is Groot and it looks like they got him right.

Guardians of the Galaxy is likely to be like the Watchmen in the sense that they both have good trailers with good song selection to make the movie seem way better than it ends up.

They screened a 17 minute trailer that apparently got rave reviews, but that doesn't disprove your theory.

I've got a great feeling about this, team

nah, watchmen was a political movie that used superheros. guardians is just a superhero movie to add to the marvel continuity

I really enjoyed the Watchmen and have no exposure to the source material.

I just re-read Watchmen and have the movie ready to go (the super-long version) whenever I can find 3.5 hours to kill.

Peeps, if I wanna read some GotG, would it be best to start with the 2008 version?

This is what is known as cognitive dissonance: I completely agree with you but still feel the same about them making the changes they did.

From what I've seen - this movie looks like several shades of awful. I honestly don't see how it could be any good - hopefully I'm wrong about it
