Yeah, Corduroy is my favorite of any song.

I borrowed my mother's car a few weeks ago when mine was in the shop, and she had a Roy Orbison live compilation in the cd player. Given the fact that she has absolutely no technology skills whatsoever, I have no idea how she came across this. I've been meaning to ask but keep forgetting.

I've been listening to Lightning Bolt a lot over the past few weeks. I still really like it. Mind Your Manners has really held up. My Father's Son has gotten better. Getaway has probably gotten worse, and it was already toward the bottom of the pile for me.

Getaway or Swallowed Whole are probably the lowest points for me.

Swallowed Whole and Mind Your Manners are my only takeaway songs at this point. The songs all hold up well against each other but as soon at they are mixed in with pre-2003 PJ, they fall apart.

There's only one real flaw for me on this record, and that's My Father's Son.

I imagine it's an unpopular opinion because I've noticed people on here seem to like it, but apart from the lovely bridge the rest of the song sounds like the band trying to do a "grunge" song and it falls flat for me. Lyrically, I think it's uninspired too.

The band can't seem to get it together live either, and that's a shame. One big fat miss for me.

Other than that, this album is fantastic. I love every song apart from MFS.

It's a bummer they didn't release "Lightning Bolt" on a 7" with "Thunderclap" as a b-side

There's still time. In a decade or so, look for this to drop as a 10C special, limited edition whatnot.

I think Lightning Bolt suffers from the fact that the first two songs on the album are also the best and the album gradually deteriorates from there until it sounds more like an Eddie Vedder solo effort.

In fact, LB almost represents Pearl Jam's career to date perfectly - a lively start, a decent but obscure middle bit and then a descent into irrelevance. It could be a chronological greatest hits.

LB's major flaw is the lack of discussion it has spurned in the months following its release. OMG Pearl Jam discussion is dead.
