Ed Upsets Founder of "Bring Pearl Jam to Israel" Campaign
The other night at the Milton Keynes gig, Ed went on a very angry rant during the back end of Daughter. He was passionate in a way I'm not sure I've ever seen from him, turning the anger in his 'anti-war' message up a notch from where it usually it is before tagging Edwin Starr's War. I think the wine definitely played a big part, and despite not usually subscribing to his overly-political rants his raw passion did unite the audience and it was a bit of a hair-raising moment.
Anyway, it's caused a bit of a stir. I've stumbled across the article below from the Jerusalem Post which quotes the founder (I think) of the Bring Pearl Jam to Israel project which has spawned some nice PJ covers as saying “Eddie Vedder, your true face is finally being revealed. You are invited not to come here. I personally do not want to see you, and I will erase the Facebook page calling on bringing [Pearl Jam] to Israel, but not before I expose who you really are.”
Ed doesn't mention Israel directly and his anti-war message is a general one but events in recent days suggest he's being specific to them, although he could be including the issues in Ukraine which have been ongoing all year. Either way, we may not be getting many more interesting Israeli takes on Pearl Jam songs for the foreseeable.

Ed's stock is on a scorching trajectory upward in my book as a result of this euro tour:
who you are returns
strangest tribe appears
they opened a show with rearviewmirror
believe you me snippet
the jade monkey and the microfiche are in hand, along with the road maps and ice scraper
and an unapologetic condemnation of what is effectively an apartheid regime is tendered
all we need now is another album with neil young
and ted dibiase on a hungerstrike duet
ps
bring PJ to delaware

Seemed like a pretty general anti-war tirade I don't see why any one side should feel singled out unless I'm missing something.
