I'm pretty certain I'm not nearly as musically literate or cultured as most of you, but these tournaments have been a great way for everyone to see what others' tastes are, in general.Iholdthepain wrote:I don't care who thinks whose picks are 4th rate, or whose are not obscure enough. I have a good cross-section (not genre-specific) of my best representation of the 80's... and more importantly, have a cool new playlist of 25 songs.
I think it's mostly fun (and in some cases... interesting) to see what everyone picks, opening my eyes to songs/bands I wasn't previously familiar with (that's why I DO watch the videos).
Eh, sometimes I get irritated by the unprompted negative commentary, but I'm pretty sure that comes from my own insecurities and is not anyone else's fault. I love getting the opinions of the well-versed members around here. My musical horizons have been opened tenfold since coming to RM, and I'm definitely appreciative of it.Iholdthepain wrote: It's this voting part, or more specifically the attempt to discredit someone else's picks that I get turned off by... especially by those who do not play.
Commentary is my favorite part of this

And I think we should count Heathen's vote. So Stip v Kaius is tied up again.

I figured. You can't afford the scandal.stip wrote:I was counting it.
But I was responding to the discussion on the previous page. Just putting in my two cents. But you've got this.

Your points are interesting and have some merit, but I can't imagine any voting prerequisite except simply that an RMer state they are voting for a team.knee tunes wrote:I'll pause the next round of voting for a small bit to leave this up for discussion.
If I were to make an executive decision, I would say Heathen's vote is not legitimate, because it seems she voted for a person & not the songs, and she failed to vote for any other person. Plus, she qualified her vote by saying "if kaius is tied" . A vote should be a vote across the board and free of any qualifications.
What do the rest of ya'll think?

If this is true, then dq anyone who voted against me... Lament's team is bullshit, and there's no way he wins against my picks if its vs. one of the beloved RMers.Varis wrote:Your points are interesting and have some merit, but I can't imagine any voting prerequisite except simply that an RMer state they are voting for a team.knee tunes wrote:I'll pause the next round of voting for a small bit to leave this up for discussion.
