Looks like wheels are turning and this lawsuit will be dealt with pretty soon... Either that or they win an award for fucking with their fans more than a y other band, ever.
Initially I thought that too, but then found this article relating to the lawsuit
According to Rolling Stone, a new Tool album is still far from completion. Although the group has enough ideas to fill a full-length, only one track that is nearly finished. The song spans over 10 minutes in length, and according to Jones, “goes through lots of changes and it’s got really heavy elements.”
Drummer Danny Carey adds, “It’s all a little more ‘metal’ sounding, if I may. I’m having fun drumming on it. There is one other song [beyond the 10-minute tune] that I would say is pretty much there. It’s another one that’s pretty gnarly with some good double-kick [drumming] going on in it.”
So it sounds like there's only maybe a couple of songs pretty much done
"I really enjoy sandwiches but the other guys are so good at making sandwiches that I don't make them. Now I make sandwiches."
There's been constant back and forths over the years as to why the album's not out yet. there's this - Maynard blaming Adam, Scooter incident injuring one of the band which lead to delays....
If it is true however - Lateralus was born during the band going through legal battles - maybe we'll end up with another super focused album like that....

I've considered this possibility too. It's not exactly unprecedented for them to throw out a few red herrings in the years leading up to a new album.
Yeah, but...people have taken these conspiracy theories to incredibly ridiculous lengths before. Remember when people thought that the leak of 10,000 Days was a fake album that the band had leaked on its own so that on release day we'd all be surprised? Sometimes, the real story is the real story.
As someone that works for an insurance company and is around many lawyers. I find it hard to believe a art credit lawsuit and then a countersuit against another company would take 8 fucking years!

Yeah that seems fishy. Who knows what to believe now. I do know Danny Carey told a good friend last October that the music was done and they were just waiting on Maynard.
Seems more is at play than dealing with a lawsuit for 8 years

That's interesting since in multiple interviews Maynard has said that he's waiting on them to give him music - even going so far as to imply that it's Lazy Bones Jones who's holding things up, that he's been constantly asking for music - which to me kinda makes sense. The output from that guy since 10,000 Days has been huge

This is true, but at least he's not really just been sitting back these past eight years. I do have to say that Puscifer were pretty great in concert - the most animated I've seen Maynard

Conditions of My Parole is pretty great and stands up well with any of Maynard's output. Not the force that Tool and APC are, but really nice, more basic laidback tunes.
I'm ready for some more Tool, whenever they decide to drop it on us.
