I don't find it amusing. I think it's kinda dumb. But I'm probably not a good judge of what's dumb.

The problem with the pm the platypus joke is that the joke itself was never intended to entertain the masses. It was originally aimed at forcing theplatypus to interact with the "HEY IM NEW HERE" crowd without fanfare. No follow up, no even asking him if he got one. Just hoping that he would get a random PM, be momentarily confused, and then thinking "GODDAMN IT SKITCH!" before moving on with his life. Maybe complaining about it to me in chat here or there.

Without the confusion moment, it's a totally pointless schtick.
