Not everyone who appreciates his music is even aware of the other thread. Save the hipster bit. It's not the time.

I kinda understand him though. The other thread is called "All things Jason Molina". Not easy to find.

Re: RIP Jason Molina
What are you hunting here?
Child, I hunt what will not stand.
I bring home the Northern Lights
The ocean and the twisting sand
I’ve seen the arrow, climb, climb, climb
I know it finds my heart every time.
You’re taking it too hard
Remember the night
When the fire didn’t answer to the flame
There’s no miles in the city now
Promises, I’ve made no promises
There’s just the grey and the emptiness
As it is
As it is – I make no small plans, my love
But I know hope dies last of all
Hope dies last of all
I have mapped my falling sky,
Harper’s Ferry to the Gauley Bridge,
Wichita to Omaha and Indianapolis
But I’ve made it too hard
By forgetting the night
That the fire didn’t answer to the flame
Josephine

Only met the guy once and he was a gentle enough guy. We owe him a lot for everything he did for the frames. His loss is felt here big time.

Re: RIP Jason Molina
I'm sure dime could give a little bit more info (if he's comfortable with it), but here's what Glen Hansard wrote on Twitter:Angus wrote:just curious: what did he do for the frames?
I lost a true friend today, it hurts, but it is, Jason Molina gave me so much. Hope, a song, protection spells. He put The Frames on course. Gave us a confidence. A truly great artist, go listen to the first Songs: Ohia record, heartbreaking folk blues.. He died in the grip
f the bottle.. I'll miss him and take him with me always.. In my song, and voice, his gift was free.. Never held back.. Sleep soft JMo x

This recent news hasn't been sitting too well with me over the last few days. Rest in peace, Molina.

Re: RIP Jason Molina
He came along musically then shortly after in person and just guided them and told them they didn't need a big record deal, all that trivial shit. He was a big influence and they did I think two? Tours together in Ireland and a good few shows/possibly a tour in the Midwest US.
Certainly around Chicago.
I 'liberated' an old black Gibson SG belonging to Irish band Therapy?, from a skip, and brought it home. Glen fixed it up and gave it to Jason. He played it for a long time I believe. I only met him one or three times but he was a gentle aul soul and really energised and gave a lot of confidence to I guess the frames and a lot of other people in Dublin.
Songs:Ohia splits a really rare 7" record with the frames. It's currently streaming on that site that's playing all his songs

Were they literally throwing a Gibson SG away?...dimejinky99 wrote:I 'liberated' an old black Gibson SG belonging to Irish band Therapy?, from a skip, and brought it home.

Re: RIP Jason Molina
An Irish rock museum was being set up(it was really short lived) and I was poking around the building site one day in a skip and there was this SG. I didn't think just nabbed it and brought thine to glen. He fixed it up.
Very shortly thereafter found our Graham Hopkins(then drummer in therapy?) had had to fly to London and collect it to donate it to this museum exhibit.
He was pissed as only a single brain cell drummer could be.
This was around 97/98?
He plays drums in the frames now and he's still pissed a me about it.
Fuck him. And that band actually.
