When Ed get's political it always reminds me of that great line from Ferris Bueller:

"Oh Hi Jeannie who's bothering you now?"

"Oh Hi Eddie who's bothering you now?"

Oddly enough, in terms of my general feelings on war, I agree with Ed here. But...

...lol at... "Ed is not trying to appease a certain demographic". Yeh, he's just anti-war. Uh Huh... Except when he's ummm.... not.

He's seemingly pointing fingers about a military-related conflict in Isreal, but he's ironically been paying no mind to Afghanistan et al. Ed's been mum on Afghanistan where Obama has had three times the amount of military deaths in less time than Bush. Three fucking times. Yet, he's mute on that? Hmmm. Maybe because he fucking played benefits for him?

But, now, we hear from the almighty partisan again about how bad war is right about when it's realized that Obama's term is um pretty much done. Oh, he's so... sincere.

Ed: "Dust off the anti-war pom-poms and sweaters gang, it's time. Can't wait to bring back that awesome No More War song. Let's gear up for another awesome anti-war album. We can have songs about small conflicts in Africa if needed, it doesn't need to be a legit war."

F Ed and anyone stupid enough to believe he's sincere here. He's a retarded partisan pom-pom waver, equivalent to Rush and Hannity, 'cept on the other side. They're all idiots.
The anti-war movement has never been anti-war. They are anti-Republican war. Most of the major wars of the last 100 years? Promoted by Democrats:

WWI: Woodrow Wilson
WW2: FDR
Korea: Truman
Vietnam: JFK/LBJ mostly

I haven't even mentioned the Wars on fat or oil or women...

FDR 'promoted' WWII?!

Maybe the dumbest fucking comment I have ever seen!

I also notice how you inconspicuously qualified Nixon's boneheaded involvement in Vietnam.

Partisans are so full of shit!

I'll give you FDR. Still he was in the chair when the US got involved wasn't he? People tend favor that war but it was still a war. If you are anti-war aren't you supposed to hate all war? I never know what the rules are there.

I don't see how Nixon gets blame for Nam. He bungled some shit but that was a conflict that predated his presidency by a good decade. He was a shitty president but getting us out of that cluster was probably the best thing he ever did even if it took 5 years too long.

The anti war movement split the Democratic Party in half during the Vietnam era. And the major wars since then were largely wars started by republican administrations (with democratic collaborators) Political parties did not really have any ideological unity prior to that era

And anti war is not necessarily pacifism either. Hence the much much more muted opposition to WWII

The WWI opposition on the left also led to HUGE reprisals from a democratic administration in one of the most comprehensive crackdowns on dissenting politics in American history.

Although a partisan opposition can bring a sense of moral clarity and certainty that is conducive to protest. If that was your point that's true, but it is true of everything

Wasn't it Eisenhower that sent the first troops to Vietnam?

Even if it was (and we had troops in dozens of countries) the democratic administrations clearly own the escalation

Yeah, that's definitely true. Vietnam wasn't really that much of a partisan thing when Kennedy was president though, right?
