I saw them on that first tour they did back in 2011 or whatever it was, it was so much better than I thought it would be. This will be different though, I assume it will be a shorter set, and no Cameron killing it.

Re: Total Fucking Godhead / The Soundgarden Thread
Well, I couldn't make it to the show here this past Saturday because I am still not well enough (been sick since November).
From what I have read, people said it was a great show. I guess at some point during the SG set, Ben was out walking around and playing in the crowd. My seat was front row, his side. But the venue is weird because there is a lounge area between the stage and the actual rows of seats. Who knows, he might have walked right in front of where I would have been. That would have been epic. Once again a recent article (Rolling Stone?) with Chris said that in the past few days he has been working on new songs for an album. Sweet!
The link also gives the NIN setlist, if anyone is interested.
Soundgarden Setlist:
Searching With My Good Eye Closed
Spoonman
Non-State Actor
Fell on Black Days
Let Me Drown
Outshined
Black Hole Sun
Jesus Christ Pose
Like Suicide
The Day I Tried to Live
My Wave
Superunknown
A Thousand Days Before
Rusty Cage
Beyond the Wheel

Re: Total Fucking Godhead / The Soundgarden Thread
Just got back from the NIN/SG show at Red Rocks...
Great seats; 5th row, right in front of Kim Thail.
Ben was an asshole, knocking a drink off his amp toward Mat Chamberlain, cussing at the crowd, trying to encite them to try to come up on stage, playing out of tune REALLY LOUD... kinda like on purpose. He walked off stage earlier than anyone else, too. Something really crawled up his ass tonight! First time seeing SG, and Matt Ch was very good. Still kinda strange that Matt Cameron wasn't there. Cornell mentioned that he turned 50 yesterday. PA mix didn't do them any favors, either, in hindsight... by comparison. Oh, and the setlist was pretty much the same, except they didn't play Beyond The Wheel
All in all, their set was a bit underwhelming, especially compared to the all-out assault on the senses that is NIN!

That's kind of disappointing to hear. I had actually considered traveling out to CO to catch this show. Kind of glad I didn't now after a few of the early reviews I've read. I've been to Red Rocks before and it's a pretty amazing venue, but as always it all depends on whether the band shows up or not.Iholdthepain wrote:Just got back from the NIN/SG show at Red Rocks...

Did trent say anything again about this being the final NIN tour for a very long time?Iholdthepain wrote:Just got back from the NIN/SG show at Red Rocks...

Re: Total Fucking Godhead / The Soundgarden Thread
Soundgarden has more of a heavy metal band mix set; for those who have not seen them live and decide to sit up close without earplugs. LOL. They are as fucking loud as AC/DC! The further back you are from the stage, the better the sound.Iholdthepain wrote:Just got back from the NIN/SG show at Red Rocks...

A message to all folks who have never been to a Soundgarden show, wear earplugs. It's not a low/soft sounding show that you get with Pearl Jam.

I've been listening to the Superunknown singles lately. The live tracks are so good. They are all from 8/93. Are there full live shows from then floating around at the same sound quality?

Re: Total Fucking Godhead / The Soundgarden Thread
I have had the fortune of seeing Soundgarden twice performing a full setlist (20+ songs) in two different venues, and they sounded awesome, especially Cornell.
Me and my girlfriend are going to Toronto for the Sunday show at the Molson Amphitheatre.
We learned to bring earplugs to their shows!

I'm looking forward to soundgarden and keep kinda forgetting that NIN is on this show too. Everyone that's seen NIN tells me I'll be blown away, though.

I'll be seeing NIN/Soundgarden on Saturday. Never really been a huge NIN fan, but I'm super excited to finally see Soundgarden.

I remember another band who said that in April '94... they were back by October.

Definitely stick around for NIN... Not a better live show these days, IMO.
I put it toe-to-toe with the TOOL live experience.

Re: Total Fucking Godhead / The Soundgarden Thread
We went to one of the Jane's Addiction/NIN shows back in 2009. There was a lot of self keyboard playing which I did not really care for, but they still put on good show that night. Trent did not play Closer. We look forward to seeing them again.
Now to Soundgarden.
There is a very good chance that Matt Cameron will be behind the kit for the Toronto show. The Soundgarden documentary is currently in the works, and the company producing it is based there. Interviews backstage with the band after the Sunday show.
Back in 2011, we went up to Toronto twice - once for the Soundgarden show, and a second time for the two PJ shows during TIFF. Hands down the Soundgarden show was the most impressive of the three shows we saw up there by leaps and bounds.
It would be really cool if Matt made an appearance and then played Superunknown in its entirety in Toronto.
We are hoping!!!!

Chamberlain was on the kit in Detroit. No surprises set-wise, but SG was super-tight and CC blew me away -- phenomenal, the best I've heard him. VERY pleased.
