I saw them just a couple years ago. "Common People" is a great closer.

Yeah, I agree - Pencil Skirt and I Spy are particularly great.theplatypus wrote:There are 2 or 3 better songs on that album... that's about as much as I can give you.
Pulp are my wife's favourite band, so I've heard them a lot.

Re: Best Decade Tournament - 90s: LMS and ledbetter
They're the big exception. My best friend was a fan and got me into laid. From there I branched out to their larger catalog. James has a lot of shitty songs but their best stuff is just fantastic. They are a top 8 band for me, and Laid is probably my favorite album of the 90s that isn't by pearl jam or rem.Lament wrote:How did you end up a James fan, out of curiosity?stip wrote:I tended to shy away from britpop stuff at the time ( and still largely do ) so unless it's presence was pretty ubiquitous it would have been easy to miss.
For whatever reason Tim booth struck a chord

The thing I love the most of these tournaments is discovering stuff that you've never heard before and finding some absolutley amazing stuff that you've been missing out on
