Re: The Biking Thread
is it the whole 'share the road, but actually we own it' mentality? because i have to say, that's the way it is around here. it's called a freaking bike lane for a reason...stay in it dickholes.doug rr wrote:I'm not going to lie, most of them piss me off..bikers not bikes that is
but the people that are the worst are the ones on the trails that are coming at you at about 20mph on their road bikes, side by side and expect you to veer off into the grass for them. all donned out in their tight ass jerseys, $300 helmets and clip shoes.
fuck you guys.

Re: The Biking Thread
I got the old road bike out of the shed last night and cleaned it up a little. Put some new lights on it, and plan to clock up some K's as part of my cross training.
I miss the feeling of freedom and detachment from the other bullshit in life, when going for a long ride while listening to some good music. This should be great.

DO NOT get a mountain bike if you are going to be primarily on roads or sidewalks. Get a hybrid.
I rented one of these the last time I was in San Fran. It handled the streets of San Fran and some trails in Sausalito nicely. There are cheaper versions by other manufacturers like Diamondback.

i'm on the road/paved trails 90%. just started talking off road and the adjustable suspension is pretty awesome.

Re: The Biking Thread
Did 20k on the spin bike last night to get back into training. Going down to the bike shop to get a new Speedo, and chain lube for the road bike. I'll have to sway myself away from the bikes on display in the store so I'm not tempted to upgrade.
I've promised myself if I clock up 1,000k in the next year on this bike, then I'll get a new one.

you guys should download Strava unless you use another app you're set on.
i love it's clean look and the fact that there are monthly challenges you can join. the trophies are a nice touch. i, i just have no friends yet to follow.

Yeah, Strava is fucking great for iPhone, but kinda terrible for Android. I hope the Android version will catch up soon.
