All easy matchups.

1. Brett vs. Stip
Brett has my favorite team after mine, one where I like almost everything (don't care for NMH or MBV). Stip's team is, well, stip's.

2. Iholdthepain vs. Theplatypus
I'm indifferent to most of the stuff that makes up Jorge's team but it sure beats the likes of Tool, Trippy Day or Temple of the Dog.

3. Heathen vs. Abnorman
RIP me. I didn't expect to make it through round 1 anyway but this is going to be a bloodbath.

4. Kaius vs. Kneetunes
Another vote for the lesser of two evils.

5. Theodore Bundy vs. Birds in Hell
This is similar in many ways to the THIP/platypus matchup, except I prefer Spenno's team to Jorge's.

I thought about going big with my tenth song, but couldn't think of something that quite felt right. I was at a loss for a bit until The Sea and Cake came up on Pandora, and I realized that I had totally forgotten about them for this tournament. After that, going with "The Argument" as number 10 was pretty easy.

Anyway, here are some songs that I had considered for the tournament:

Something by Pearl Jam (In My Tree, RVM, or Not For You)

Radiohead - Talk Show Host

Primus - Jerry Was a Racecar Driver

Something by Dirty Three (Red, Deep Waters, or Authentic Celestial Music)

Vic Chesnutt - Bug or Onion Soup

Rachel's - An Evening of Long Goodbyes

The Geraldine Fibbers - Lilybelle

Cardiacs - Eat It Up Worms Hero or Dog-Like Sparky

Modest Mouse - Dramamine or Ohio

A bunch of video game music was also in contention, but I didn't know how it would go over. There were a bunch of songs composed by Dave Wise for the the Donkey Kong Country games that I considered, primarily "Stickerbrush Symphony." I had also thought about stuff from the soundtracks to Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, the 2-D Genesis-era Sonic games, etc.

Brett, I think a video game song would have been brilliant. But historically those sorts of suggestions have not gone over well.

On the other hand, someone other than me making that pick would instantly up its credibility by at least 200%

it hurt not to take a james song, but if I was going to pick james i would have taken Ring the Bells or Just Like Fred Astaire

It killed me that there was nothing from Metallica's Black Album. I almost took The Unforgiven as my 10th.

I also would have liked to draft

Sponge - Plowed
Garbage - Stupid Girl
Bush - Machinehead
Live - White, Discussion
Liz Phair - Supernova
Beck - Sexx Laws
Dan Bern - either Jerusalem, Tiger Woods, or Chelsea Hotel

and obviously a ton of others, but those came closest to making it
I kept waiting for you to pick some Lanegan, not just ST.
I can't believe I was the only person who has him on my team. I'll need to make sure the people in the Lanegan thread show up to avenge him in the voting.
I almost took Julie Paradise. I'm taking some Lanegan next decade for sure.

Ha, you're probably right ;) . Seriously, though, I was strongly considering it. I grew up in the '90s, but didn't get into music until the very end of the decade. So for me, video game music was '90s music. Plus, a lot of it was on par with some of the best stuff being put out that decade anyway. If I had gone with any, it would have been the DKC one, as that's probably my favorite piece of game music.
