Is Televisions Golden Age dying?

Even though Hell On Wheels falls several miles short of Deadwood I do enjoy watching it.

Is the so-called Golden Age dying? It's probably on the downturn, but there's a lot of good stuff still out there.

To answer the thread question - No. Network TV has never been weaker. It's bound to improve and contribute to the whole.

Also, this is the third and final season of Newsroom, isn't it? I thought I remember reading that.

And I've heard the same about House of Cards.

I don't think the golden age is close to over. But the multi-season format might drive it kill it off, if they aren't careful. I think the short season, fewer seasons format is the future. No more than 10 episodes an no more than 5 seasons.

That's the way you keep the golden age going.

Hannibal (the latter half of season 1 + the whole of season 2 specifically) is beautiful. Probably as good as Breaking Bad.

The first half of season 1 is meh.

If you can get hold of it, Utopia is a fantastic show that doesn't look like anything else on TV right now.

I just started watching Hannibal (I'm about 5 episodes in) and I'm loving it. So it's exciting to hear that these first episodes are actually the worst part of the series and it only gets better.

Is it weird that watching this show makes me hungry? Should I be concerned?

What really bogs down the first half of season 1 for me is that it's too close to being a regular network police procedural. Once it really gets going, it becomes something else. Something... sublime.

As for feeling hungry, don't worry. You're not the only one.

I believe that is how FX submitted it. The second season has been confirmed, but likely will not air until late 2015 or early 2016.

Each season is going to be a seperate story. True Detective was also eligible for the mini-series category. I would guess the makers of Fargo didn't want to go up against Mad Men, Breaking Bad, True Detective... etc.
