So I got my mystery poster today. It's the poster for the first Pearl Jam show I went to. What are the odds of that happening?

That's pretty damn cool! I wonder how long it'll take for mine to get out here to me....cutuphalfdead wrote:So I got my mystery poster today. It's the poster for the first Pearl Jam show I went to. What are the odds of that happening?

Honestly, I only bought this to flip it and make a few bucks. But the only sold listing on ebay has it for $59, just under double what I paid. I think I'm just gonna frame it and hang it on my wall.Rangi Guy wrote:That's pretty damn cool! I bought one for the same reason as you, although I'm pretty sure whatever one I get won't be worth flicking off.
I've got the poster from my first show from 98 framed and it's hanging in the study

Who came up with that saying in the first place? Screwed the pooch. Dog fucking in other words. Such an odd saying and it's pretty common at this point. When you stop and think about it ... eww. Which is exactly how I think of those dog collars so I suppose it's appropriate in this context. Anyway, sorry. Carry on folks!numbers wrote:yeah, they screwed the pooch on this one.

Merch is a dog-eat-dog business.
(Come to think of it, that's a pretty weird saying, too. Has anyone ever actually seen a dog physically eat another dog? I'd be scarred for life. Is this common? The saying makes it sound like it happens all the time, as if everyone knows what it means, without explication. Calling something dog-eat-dog food makes a lot more sense to me, and it's just less gross as an image.)

It's 2014 and I'm posting on a Pearl Jam-related message board. Clearly I'm super lame.@SkitchP wrote:PryTo? More like TryToo

Did you book your 2000 show tickets through 10C? They may still have that on your record. At the very least they know where you live, so maybe they just decided to throw you a bone...B wrote:1/16?cutuphalfdead wrote:You don't know that at all.B wrote:1/549cutuphalfdead wrote:So I got my mystery poster today. Good - I was worried that last one wouldn't work without an Australian accent.stip wrote:actually chucklingridleybradout wrote:What do you expect when they're charging 40 barks?bodysnatcher wrote:sales have been ruffE.H. Ruddock wrote:Are the dog collars 75% off yet?

Re: Goods thread (for when 10c puts things up for sale)
I would think it's more like 1/700,000. CHUD's first show could have been any show from 1990 until today - about 1,000 shows. There were about 700 possible shows in the Mystery Box pool. 1/1000 x 1/700. The volume of posters given out and volume of the Boston poster itself would improve the odds, but I can't quantify that without more data.B wrote:1/16?cutuphalfdead wrote:You don't know that at all.B wrote:1/549cutuphalfdead wrote:So I got my mystery poster today. Re: Goods thread (for when 10c puts things up for sale)
Well, to give the real chances, you'd have to know which shows were in the pool of posters and how many posters from each show. That unknowable by anyone except 10C staff, and they would only know if they cared to count.CopperTom wrote:I would think it's more like 1/700,000. Exactly, but here you are giving numbers anyway.B wrote:Well, to give the real chances, you'd have to know which shows were in the pool of posters and how many posters from each show.
