I love RA Dickey though. Happy for that dude that he is doing well but his ERA has jumped quite a bit in Toronto. Which is normal in the AL and he's in a hitters friendly park. When you swap out a pitcher for a guy who usually has power your era is going to naturally go up. As a Rangers fan I'm cool adding an NL pitcher as long as they can keep the ball down and get a K now and again otherwise they will get eaten up by the monster that is our ballpark. Take a guy like Cueto I think he'd do well in the AL. As would Tyson Ross, Gallardo, Jordan ZImmerman, Charlie Morton, Jorge De La Rosa, etc. There are plenty of pitchers in the AL who belong in the NL though due to how they pitch. Jeremy Guthrie, Phil Hughes, John Danks, Hutchinson for you guys, etc. I do think really highly of Stroman though. That kid has great stuff and keeps the ball down, can get a K, doesn't beat himself, etc.

Stroman is all kinds of awesome. It should be interesting to see how he pitches against Boston tonight after dominating them last week.

He has a 2.21 ERA in 10 starts since moving into the rotation. In his last four starts, he had a blowup against the Angels and 7-inning shutouts against Oakland, Texas and Boston. He stuff looks nasty every time out.



I'm a bit disappointed that the Jays traded Erik Kratz because we don't get to see this anymore:

Stroman's been fantastic and extremely fun to watch. Is he the Jays #1 guy? In a one game wild card playoff, is he the guy? I'd sure put him in there over Buehrle or Dickey.

It's hard not to get excited about the things we've seen from him this year. He would absolutely be my choice to start a one-game playoff right now.

Johnson likely won't be there for long, but he's filled in admirably so far. It's amazing how well they've played since the All-Star break, and if they can get healthy soon (Encarnacion, Lind and Lawrie are all out, which REALLY hurts their lineup) I really think it's going to be an exciting finish.

Could be a good pick up for STL. Masterson in a contract year. He was great last year and has had some mechanics problems this year. Maybe the light will come on? Ramsey is a good OF prospect. Good trade for both.

I don't see them making a qualifying offer to Masterson which makes this Rangers fan happy because I'd love to sign him in the offseason but not if it costs us what is looking like will be a top 3-5 pick and I think Mike Maddux could work wonders with him.

Teams in the top 10 (15 maybe??) dont lose their first round pick as compensation. I believe they just give a supplemental pick at the end of the 1st round to the team that lost the free agent.
