And reviewing one the week before yours goes up doesn't really count.
You left out the guy whose reviews are officially featured in the header post!
Seriously though, not everyone is an eloquent reviewer. I know I'm not. I can't figure out why anyone would want to read a series of different spins on 'heh not my thing' if I'm feeling polite or 'fuck that' if I'm not. If one of these mixes happens to be great I'm probably gonna say something about it but otherwise it's probably best for everyone that I don't. And with these last few mixes it has not been the case (I haven't tried platy's yet though). Actually for some of them I couldn't even sit through the whole thing. Let's take yours for instance. I just don't get the point of such a mix. Hey here are a bunch of ultra-famous songs that you've heard a thousand times already, accompanied by a parody that almost everyone probably has already heard as well. I mean it looks like the only good thing that could come out of this was Varis' review. If that's what you were going for, congrats, otherwise I don't see any worth in something like that.
I've also listened to mix 8 and I felt like everything had been said already by others in better ways and there wasn't anything particular where I felt anyone would really miss my input.

I have downloaded three or four of these things and this is pretty much my feeling too.
I haven't sat down with the intention of completing a full review with any of them yet but, even if I had, it's likely to be a series of "I didn't like this song", "I liked this one even less than the last one", "how could anyone listen to this junk?", etc.
No one wrote the songs on their mix, and I don't think they're looking for new insights (these aren't those kinds of reviews). But they are sharing their tastes with people and would appreciate knowing that people took the time to listen and what they thought. Even if it was something as basic as

Almost all these mixes (except maybe Chuds) was a 'let's cram as many new artists into 80 minutes and see what people like'' which is fine. I discovered a handful of new songs/ artists I liked. But sometimes it's cool to hear songs you know keeping unusual company. Shaking Through is a song I've heard a thousand times but I wasn't expecting it and it was a nice surprise. I probably enjoyed it more than I would have on murmur
With my mix, most of those base songs and parodies people were familiar with, but no one ever listens to the original song and then the parody. I found hearing the original gave me more appreciation for the parody, which was the origin of the idea. I originally had once in a lifetime and the style parody following each other on my original mix and liked it enough to try it as a full fledged idea ( and then made the guess what is happening puzzle format). No new music, but there are other things a mix can do

Yeah I didn't mean to imply that a mix should only serve to introduce new songs and I totally get the idea of giving a song a new light in a different settings. I also understand what you were trying to do but really all it comes down is THIS IS A FUCKING MIX OF WEIRD AL SONGS. And I'm not sure you can be pissed at people for not wanting to sit down and review A FUCKING MIX OF WEIRD AL SONGS.

Well we go back to what I was saying before mentioning your particular case. Not everyone can write a decent review and I'm sure mixmakers do not want to read twelve lines of 'this is boring'. I know I'm not gonna like it when it's my turn. Sometimes I feel like I'm being more respectful by not saying anything.
And look, I don't disagree that it would be nice to have more people reviewing, I sure try to listen to these things (even though free time is limited*) and if I have something to say about it I will, but it's not always the case, and it's not just out of disrespect that it doesn't happen more often.
* I have about 160 new albums in my queue so if a mix is going to take their place it needs to be worth it

That's certainly an improvement on the old RM mix exchanges where you'd just have to hope that the sole person who receives your mix would at least give it a cursory listen.
I'm only a few songs into this mix but I'm getting a Super Nintendo Chalmers vibe. Some Aussie indie goodness early on.

Oh, Stipples - if only I'd been around to speak up for Weird Al - I would've got a goofy grin on my face when I realised it was Smells Like Nirvana and not a file duff up. Well, I'm in now. I'll try and listen to the new mixes as they come up, but I've got a finite amount of time. I also suck at writing about music.
Whenever I can (I fall behind with the posts and I often need to listen to new songs) I try and comment on people's picks in the drafts. People like feedback. They like to know that someone listened, and they like to know what someone thinks of their tastes. That's why they share.
Not everyone can write as well as Brett. Not everyone has Pryto's knowledge, or Lament's humor. But people like knowing what other people think. And if you listened its not hard.
And don't worry Heathen, any negative criticism you have to offer will be tempered by the fact that you thought
One thing I particularly enjoy about the mixes is the reframing of songs I may already know.
I think it would be a basic courtesy if you are going to listen to a mix thatif you come away from it enjoying a song or two then let the mixer know by posting on here. If you hated it then there's probably no real reason to post that you thought it was awful but I find it hard to believe that as a listener you wouldn't find one single thing about a mix of interest.

based on my intense dislike of just about everything on the first half of the mix, the general style, and the fact that he has recently posted in this thread, I'm going to go ahead and say that this is SNC.
