Agreed. He also had a great year last year while battling through a knee injury which his pitching coach in Cleveland said may have led to his issues this year.

Teams in the top 10 (15 maybe??) dont lose their first round pick as compensation. I believe they just give a supplemental pick at the end of the 1st round to the team that lost the free agent.

Teams drafting in the top 10 don't lose that pick, they lose their next pick (i.e. 2nd round)

considering what TB got for Price. I'm liking the Sox deal much more. Then factor in the Lackey deal, and I have to say that Cherington did extremely well today.

Detroit and Oakland certainly look like favorites in the AL (I'm going to go ahead and sleep on Balt'more). St. Louis certainly helped themselves, but did they catch up with the Dodgers and Brewers? I don't think so, but what do I know.

Now there may be a bit of a bias here, but I still think Toronto is the better team. In the next 2-3 weeks, the Jays should get Brett Lawrie, Edwin Encarnacion and Adam Lind off the DL. That's more of an improvement than any team made today.

Of course, that all hinges on rehab going smoothly for those three.

that's the key phrase here, b/c i can only think of guys that were in contract years, but weren't allowed to get to FA.
