The Drones
So before the forum makeover, I recall getting the
Attention of some of the more astute ears here with
The drones ( people lost their shit over shark fin blues)
Well they have new album on its way out, and here is the
First taste. Supreme.

Re: The Drones
Probably the only current Australian band that matters. I love seeing this band play live and the records are brilliant.

Yep, love The Drones. I have linked a few times to their cover of Kev Carmody's River of Tears. Epic stuff indeed.
Here it is again for the new board:

The Drones might be the best band on the planet right now. I See Seaweed was a masterpiece.

They're passing through here for a small pub gig in May. It may just be the gig of the year.

I'd love to see them. They don't seem to be very popular stateside, though.

Re: The Drones
When they supported Neil Young I got there late and missed them. Also, NY loved em and extended their support run.

Re: The Drones
I remember The Drones posting pro shot video of one of the NY support slots. Maybe 25 minutes max. Was great. I'm sure it's on the yoo choobs or something.

Album is streaming: http://www.tinymixtapes.com/chocolate-g ... kinda-free
The little I've listened to so far sounds really fuckin' out there. Seems like this is going to be their most challenging/inaccessible album, but I'm sure it will also be hugely rewarding.

Wow, this album doesn't sound like anything else I can think of. I think this might make a pretty big splash.

Re: The Drones
The Drones are a band that I've always felt I should like more than I do like. I love some of their stuff absolutely, but no album of theirs holds me from start to end as of yet. I will, however, certainly give this a listen.

Re: The Drones
I can't get over their singer. I'm trying to listen to their new one right now and he actively annoys me. The music is interesting I guess.

Oh man, I love Gareth Liddiard's voice. And he is an amazing lyricist.

Same. Though Havilah and I See Seaweed grew on me a lot. Time will tell with this one.William Bloke wrote:The Drones are a band that I've always felt I should like more than I do like.
