Ha, another huge disagreement. I think most of my favorite metal (Acid Bath, Strapping Young Lad, Septicflesh, Gojira, Burzum) has a lot of beauty in it.Heathen wrote:Yeah, keep beautiful away from my metal.

Re: Metal (\M/ METAL \M/)
I probably shouldn't have said that. It's only true for death metal because when it comes to black or doom I can without a doubt fall for a melancholic/desperate kind of beauty. The symphonic or gothic aesthetic is just not appealing to me at all, I find it pompous and it ends up being more comical than beautiful.

Okay, that I can totally understand. I've loved that shit since high school and still am a total sucker for it, but I can definitely see why someone would find it silly.Heathen wrote:The symphonic or gothic aesthetic is just not appealing to me at all, I find it pompous and it ends up being more comical than beautiful.

I certainly enjoy some hipster metal.
That Emptiness album could definitely be categorized as such. Pretty weird and cool and not something I expected to see on Dark Descent Records. The ending was a bit underwhelming though.

1:11 through 2:14 is why Marco Duplantier is my favorite drummer around right now.

That's always been one of my favorite Gojira songs. Everything's just about perfect.LoathedVermin72 wrote:

Now, what would Oscar Winner® Michael Caine do?

I've been enjoying that album since you posted it, but yeah, that ending isn't the greatest. it ends so abruptly mid stream that it feels like a mistake.Heathen wrote:The ending was a bit underwhelming though.

for me it's going to be one hell of a weekend (in my hometown, i might add)..
two days; dark angel, high on fire, loudness, sacred reich, king diamond, samael ,kvelertak, testament and triptykon.
chances are that i will not survive this.
