I remember when Seattle was winning all those games the feeling that it was a mirage and they'd shit the bed in the playoffs. They never seemed like they were all that good even though they were winning.

That rotation was suspect. Garcia was young and threw a lot of innings that year. Also, Sele was very average and add Jamie Moyer (love him though) and that doesn't strike a lot of fear in teams come October.

Yeah, Moyer was a 38-year-old at that point, so it was the tail end of his career and he probably didn't have much left in the tank by then.

Still not what the D Backs and Yankees were rolling out there. Again, I loved Moyer (former Red Sock so it can stay here)

I know this sounds stupid, but I really like what I've seen out of this team since the deadline. They havent packed it in like the 2012 team did after the big trade. If they can a #1 and #2 starter in here next year(I know, easier said than done) I like their chances to turn it around.

NESN has been running this top 30 nesn moments, and like half of them are Classic Pedro games. This guy was so good, I don't even remember some of these games and they would be the best games of most pitchers careers. They just showed a 15k, 2hit, no walk shutout against the O's that I have no recollection of.

I saw Pedro pitch live in Texas in 1998. My Rangers some how scratched out a W. Every pitch was fucking filthy and his location was pinpoint. It was a treat watching him.

The Red Sox have reportedly agreed to a deal with 19-year-old Cuban infielder Yoan Moncada, according to Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com.

Moncada is a switch hitter who is projected as a second baseman or a third baseman, but could move to a corner outfield spot if he continues to bulk up (he reportedly weighs in the 210 to 220 pound range). He batted .273 last season in the Cuban league Serie Nacional.

The Yankees, Dodgers, Padres, and Brewers were all in the running to land Moncada, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. The New York Post reports Moncada had three workouts with the Yankees.

Ben Cherington and the Red Sox are establishing a pipeline of Cuban players, and Moncada figures to one day join outfielder Rusney Castillo in the everyday lineup in Boston. Castillo signed a seven-year contract last season.

Moncada is considered an even bigger prize than Castillo. He’ll immediately be one of the top prospects in baseball and his talent is said to be on par with Yasiel Puig at the same age.
