Meanwhile it's nasty out; worst t-storm we've had in a good while. But I'm glad it's raining now instead of later. Hoping it will be all done & cleared out for the night.

Re: Total Fucking Godhead / The Soundgarden Thread
I'd never seen NIN until this past Monday and they were awesome, even though I didn't know all the music. They have really cool visuals and a unique show. They were onstage for maybe 10 to 15 minutes longer than Soundgarden, so if you can stay out of the bad weather, I'd say see the whole show. I never really listened to them. Never sat through a full album, only knew their singles and the Woodstock '94 performance. I just never gravitated towards them. But I really like Richard Patrick's voice, so...
But yeah, today I went out and bought 4 of their albums at the local store near my work to catch up on everything I simply ignored over the years, and now all I want to do is twiddle with a synthesizer, make beats, and distort everything.
Stick around for the whole show.

I might be able to get to an E-bow.

I liked NIN's set, but I was there for Soundgarden and I'm not into NIN that much and I had a job interview the next morning at 7:30, so I dipped out a little early. Nothing bad to say about them. The songs I knew like March Of The Pigs and Closer were really good.

Or were you just saying Trent sounds like him

I just meant that I like Filter and Richard Patrick's voice. With him being a former member of NIN, you'd think I'd also be into Trent's music, but it just never happened.Iholdthepain wrote:Will wrote:I'd never seen NIN until this past Monday and they were awesome, even though I didn't know all the music... Richard Patrick was in NIN for only the first couple of years... and really only sang (screamed) backup vocals.

But let's go back to Soundgarden. The played Head Down after the DC show a couple shows later. Bastards.

Re: Total Fucking Godhead / The Soundgarden Thread
The weather did indeed move out by showtime. Really kind of an odd pairing though for a dual headliner; musically they're not similar and it was easy to see who was there for which band.
Soundgarden was good but last night it took them a few songs to find their groove and they really didn't start clicking until about a third of way through their. But when they did I was a lot more impressed with them. I have always been more of a casual fan of theirs but I did like Badmotorfinger & Superunknown and this 80 minute set was like one you would expect at a festival; most of the radio songs with a few deeper tracks. I was completely fine with that.
During the set change the skies opened up again before settling into a steadier light rain. Which no doubt added to the experience for some but more of an annoyance to me. Reznor & company were good, and I can see how if you like industrial sound with a mix of EDM blended in they're probably really good but I never really came around on them fully. After a while the lights and strobes and fog weren't as fun either. I had already gotten Closer and Piggy and honestly I was ready to go but at this point I knew they were getting late in their set. No way was I going to bail before getting Hurt. It's up there with Sabotage as one of my favorite '90s songs.

For those of you who aren't on Soundgarden's email list, I feel it is my duty to inform you that it's now possible to purchase a Soundgarden travel coffee mug.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

Trent is up so many levels from Richard. Filter peaked at Title of Record, the rest was meh. Will wrote:I just meant that I like Filter and Richard Patrick's voice. Headlining Soundwave, fellow Aussies.
Maybe I'll go, I regret not heading along this year. Hopefully a few more decent bands get added to the bill.
Hopefully Cameron will definitely be back for these shows.

Why is Queensland and NSW on the same days?
Forget that - I see. Each place has one of the lineups on alternating days.
Day one list is Day 1 in Adelaide and Sydney - Day 2 Melbourne and Brissie

Day 2 has a pretty horrendous line up. You guys are fortunate for Day 1, though!
