Re: MLB
What the Red Sox should have done was kept Iglesias at SS, move X to 3B in the minors, and left him at AAA until he got his 500 at-bats (you know, the rule they had in place back when their prospects converted to studs). Let Middlebrooks play 3b until X is ready and then trade him, or if Middlebrooks is still that bad you find some stopgap.

I don't give a shit about his hitting. Like I said it took Ozzie Smith a quarter of his career to crack .250 and he was good enough for the HoF.numbers wrote:Not his defense, it was spectacular. Simmons for ATL is the closest thing we have seen to Ozzie. Sure he is only gonna drive in like 50 runs but he will save 50.cutuphalfdead wrote:I don't give a shit about his hitting. SImmons will hit enough eventually. He had some pop last year. He needs a little patience and he will be fine. a future 2 hole.

Re: MLB
FELIX, son.
6 innings pitched & 3 or less runs allowed = "Quality Start"
7 innings & 2 or less = No common term. Felix has blown past the record for this stat. Let's just call it a "Felix"

Twitter is a treasure chest of random Chris Sale stats tonight. It helps me forget momentarily how bad the Sox pen is.
Kershaw is obviously the best pitcher in the world. And I wouldn't argue much against someone putting King Felix second. But Sale is at worst the third best starting pitcher on the planet right now.

11% might not seem like that big of a deal. But over time, 11% can actually become pretty significant.
11% of batters that Felix faces are designated hitters. They are paid to do nothing - nothing - but hit.
11% of batters that Kershaw faces are pitchers. They are paid to do the opposite of hitting.

Since 2011 Kershaw has a better overall ERA (Kershaw 2.14, Hernandez 2.93), a better ERA vs. the AL (Kershaw 2.46, Hernandez 3.01), and a better ERA vs. the NL (Kershaw 2.10, Hernandez 2.23).Bammer wrote:11% might not seem like that big of a deal.
