Interesting. There was definitely a bad recording from the first Chicago show in 93. I'd be interested in hearing what you've got.PryTo wrote:I'm almost positive there was a live version by Nirvana with terrible sound, but not long after I found one that sounded much better. Different recording from a different show. This was years ago, so it's hard to remember for sure. I might dig around my external drive at some point and see what's still there. I might have deleted them once the studio version came along.DeLima wrote:there was a live version from Chicago 93 called On a Mountain, and yeah that Hole version. The live version wasn't great I thought, but the sound on the version I had was pretty inaudible.PryTo wrote:Yeah, there were live versions from Hole and Nirvana floating around on Napster, maybe even two live Nirvana versions. It was another year or so before the studio version was released on that greatest hits comp.bada wrote:I was a little thrown by the studio version of You Know You're Right. I was used to the Hole arrangement so I kept expecting a certain chord change that isn't in the Nirvana version and it made me a little mental.

Good to hear, Stip. My sole experience with a kidney stone haunts me more than a decade later. That stuff is no fun at all.stip wrote:blood free today!

Just skip me as well. I have no idea what I'm going to pick anyway.

There's so many bands who released great music this decade - it's interesting seeing what everyone picks from those bands. Modest Mouse are a group that I know some stuff of (enough to have a few of theirs on my list) but have never gotten right into. This song was cool.Farmer John wrote:Modest Mouse - 3rd Planet

Well, I've got an acoustic version of it (Kurt only) that's fantastic. A quick glance at the external drive yields two copies of the Chicago version and I don't see any other live versions on YouTube, so maybe I was thinking of the acoustic version. Like I said, this was 14 years ago or something.DeLima wrote:Interesting. There was definitely a bad recording from the first Chicago show in 93. I'd be interested in hearing what you've got.

I'm off, gentlemen. Remember 3 hours from the last pick, skip people in italics (or wait as many minutes as the number after their name) and if someone missed a pick and it's their turn on wrapping back around you can skip them again. I'll update in the morning.

What varis said. How do I only know a handful of MM songs when I really dig the few that I do?Varis wrote:There's so many bands who released great music this decade - it's interesting seeing what everyone picks from those bands. I think he realized every other pick would be a Radiohead song and decided to hightail it.
