Re: Robin Williams (July 21, 1951 – August 11, 2014)
“What is the left’s world view in general?” Mr. Limbaugh asked listeners. “If you had to attach, not a philosophy, but an attitude to a leftist world view. It’s one of pessimism, and darkness, sadness. They’re never happy, are they?”
Fox News reported Mr. Williams suffered from “survivor’s guilt” after the deaths of Christopher Reeve, Andy Kaufman and John Belushi.
“Robin Williams felt guilty that he was still alive while his three friends had died young, and much earlier than he had,” Mr. Limbaugh said. “He could never get over the guilt that they died and he didn’t. Well, that is a constant measurement that is made by political leftists in judging the country.”

wait a minute the political right, i thought every american just needed to pull themselves up by the boot straps to fulfill the american dream and be happy?Rush Limbaugh wrote:They are animated in large part by the false promises of America, because the promises of America are not for everyone, as we see each and every day.

Along those lines I've seen comments like this:
He was most likely atheist, a liberal and big Dem supporter, often joking and making fun of God. I was never a big fan, perhaps this is why
He had everything the world tells us we need to have to be happy. Money, Fame, love of family, respect of his peers. Yet he wasn't happy. Only Jesus can fulfill our every need and this is yet another reminder of that fact

That's a good story. We are all not A-list celebrities but we all have an effect on others' lives in ways we do not realize, sometimes significantly.@SkitchP wrote:I'm home now. Here's the David Simon blog post I was mentioning

I watched this for the first time in a while last night and forgot about this scene. I had the volume way up so it kind of startled me. Great film.durdencommatyler wrote:

Really lovely movie. I've only seen it once. And I remember thinking I needed to see it again and again to dissect it and pull apart what I thought it meant. But I never did. Now is the perfect time to revisit, me thinks.RussellManiac12 wrote:I watched this for the first time in a while last night and forgot about this scene. Re: Robin Williams.....
So sad. I feel like a piece of my youth is gone. When you are a latchkey kid like myself they're times when your music and movies is all that you have sometimes.

I'm of two minds about that Norm story. On one hand it's an incredibly sweet story about a really nice man. On the other side you could view it as someone who needed to be liked so much that he would put on a show for a complete stranger for validation and maybe even sadder so for a few minutes he wasn't alone with his own thoughts. I'm probably reading too much into it but it makes me sad.
