I love this show. All the slow and "horrible episodes" that many people here complain about.... help make episodes like tonight that much more poignant.
Merle went out great. I liked his character a lot and kind of always felt there was more to him. Interesting to see how Daryl took out some of his frustration towards his brother out on Zombie Merle V. 1

Yeah, Merle was a lot like the Shane character in that you eventually felt a little sorry for him by the end...

Rick walking near the garbage heap while Hershel's prayer was being recited, then seeing Lori....fantastic scene.
As far as next week goes, after seeing the preview, I"m guessin that they abandon the prison, possibly booby trap it, and as the Gov charges in with his men raring to fight, they come up empty.

Me thinks it was as much Daryl symbolically killing his past as much as it was his growing hate for Merle.Strat wrote:I love this show. All the slow and "horrible episodes" that many people here complain about.... help make episodes like tonight that much more poignant.

They really need to have Nicotero direct more episodes, he seems to be on a level where he can balance the gore and the violence with more character based episodes so well. They took a character who really wasn't a nice person and made you feel sorry for him. It was done very well.

Once again a supporting cast member gets an episode with some character development and then is killed off.

True, but usually there was some character development before that episode.broken iris wrote:Monkey_Driven wrote:Once again a supporting cast member gets an episode with some character development and then is killed off.

Carl will still be there, painting tar on the steps, heating up door knobs, and throwing swinging paints cans while saying, "I'm really scared now."Stickman wrote:Rick walking near the garbage heap while Hershel's prayer was being recited, then seeing Lori....fantastic scene.

Yeah, that was a great scene. I read somewhere that the finale is a shocker but not at all what viewers might be "expecting". Do they kill the baby? I'm guessing at least that nerd in Woodbury, Martinez, a couple other Woodbury residents along with Andrea, possibly Carol, or Herschel's blonde daughter will all be dead at the end of that show.KurtLeon wrote:I really love Norman Reedus, but his acting when hewas jus fucking fantastic. I think it's more likely Herschel will die, the daughter has to stick around to be Carls love interest. I was thinking that they might kill off Glenn or Maggie, what with them getting engaged and all.Herschel's blonde daughter

Re: TV: The Walking Dead
i got this vibe, too. not to mention the governor being a strong character they can still get a lot of mileage from- as much as we want to see him get his, his arc ending next week would seem kind of a waste. and andrea is still stuck with the gov, and unfortunately i don't see her character being done yet, so... maybe the big black dude whose name i still don't remember gets her out of there. so it's plausible the big battle we've been waiting for ends up being one side attacking nothing while the other has long left the premises. would kind of like it if they get away from the governor for a bit only to have him resurface in a later season.Stickman wrote:As far as next week goes, after seeing the preview, I"m guessin that they abandon the prison, possibly booby trap it, and as the Gov charges in with his men raring to fight, they come up empty.
liked the merle stuff- michael rooker should be more well known than he is, he always seems to do a great job. loved the scene with him taking pulls of whiskey in the car and setting the firefight in motion. also like the scene with daryl telling rick they're his family- it was understated and quick, but the look on rick's face really sold it.
rip merle, you bastard.
ah, copperplate, a font for the truly modern man.

I understand The Governor was some bad ass in the books, but he hasn't really done much for me in the show. I'd like to see him gone.
