I must admit, though, with all the whingeing about how long some of the songs are, I'm toying with the idea of picking exclusively rather long tracks in the '10s tourney. Probably won't do it, but the idea's there.

Even if you were to do that it wouldn't be a problem because most of the stuff I'm gonna draft is by artists I've barely mentioned on this board. You might get 3 of them if you're lucky.

If you make me listen to another one of those Nordic death metal songs I'll never speak to you again. Or I'll speak to you a lot more. Whichever is worse.

It would require an effort that I'd certainly not be able to maintain. I'd just love to see Stip pick a Meg Baird track and see the resulting frothing of the mouth.

It was black metal, not death metal. Shows how closely you've been listening.

I was like 95% sure you'd pick a Espers track for the 00's.

The BigRed / Mike house was the toughest one for me. Both solid teams, and it ultimately came down to me not liking Mike's Waits song. It had more weight to it as well considering it was his top choice.

Just wanted to give his team some love, though!

Brett as well. Like I stated earlier, I didn't know a single song on his team, and all of those songs are good to really good.

By the way, stip, your Tom Waits song was the first one I listened to all the way through. His voice sounds much better in it. Why in the hell he would resort to the gargling phlegm technique is beyond me.

are you in the team that doesn't like tom waits generally or was it just that song? hoist that rag is far on tom's more abrasive and weird side. do you like stips pick?

edit: great, now you already answered my question

Hoist that Rag is such a glorious song. So full of breathtaking and halting imagery. So full of passion and spit and piss. God that song gets me.

I like Make it Rain a shade more. But that hardly means anything. Hoist that Rag is sublime.

Yeah, that solo is absurd. The whole song is just really fucking good.

For. Realz!

Ribot's work all over that album is otherworldly. What a gem of an artist. And a bit of a Tom Waits soul mate, I'd say.

I just reported your post.

Honey, I haven't listened to your mix yet, as you haven't been matched up with anyone yet. So, please, be patient, dust the sand out of your asscrack, and come get a hug.

Hey Abnorman, you have the wrong Tom Waits song in Stip's playlist.
