Has Eddie had an opportunity to drop his name yet?

Eddie was just scuba diving with him off the coast of Fiji, and he's really angry about the whole thing.

My favorite bits were the one where he was talking back to his son in the manner the son was acting, the drunken pilot, and the foreign dignitary he opened with. Also, the indifferent Frenchman.numbers wrote:I am watching this now, it is incredible.Self wrote:

Listening to this right now. Maron's intro is pretty poignant. He starts crying. Shit.VinylGuy wrote:The Marc Maron podcast is really nice.

Kind of poignant to see him singing lines from Pagliacci. The tragic clown. La commedia è finita.Self wrote:

I get what he's saying and don't think he's completely wrong. But when there's a mental illness issue, such as depression, I'd say that's a bit of an extenuating circumstance.zeb wrote:Unexpected and disappointing: http://consequenceofsound.net/2014/08/h ... g-suicide/

I can't really find a fault with any of that logic. Especially...
Unfortunately, rationality and emotion are rarely on good speaking terms.I think as soon as you have children, you waive your right to take your own life.

That's exactly what it comes down to. Rollins comes across like someone who has absolutely no idea what depression and mental illness does to you.LoathedVermin72 wrote:I get what he's saying and don't think he's completely wrong. He actually admits to never having felt depressed, which in theory would make him unable to empathize.
Although, I find his statement to be very hard to believe.

I've struggled with thoughts of hopelessness more than I'd like to admit, and have lost dearly close friends to suicide, and I think Rollins is a great deal more right than he is wrong in that piece.

Rollins has made a career out of being a contrarian. No surprises he'd take this stance but I think he's a tool for doing so.

Re: Robin Williams (July 21, 1951 – August 11, 2014)
A guy I work with has a daughter who has tried to take her life a few times over the last decade. He now says to her that it the most selfish act she can do and that it is in effect killing a part of the ones who care for her. He also has said that no matter how bad a situation (even involving him) she can just cut the crap and talk with him. That he will suspend any argument etc to just talk. Almost like having a safe word.
He swears his way is right and she hasn't tried recently.
