I've always liked the sound in Aye Davanita of someone rolling their tongue.... " **tongue roll** Bop."

I think it's the urgency with how this album starts
"I really enjoy sandwiches but the other guys are so good at making sandwiches that I don't make them. Now I make sandwiches."

Not the best moment but one I always look forward to is the 2nd verse of Whipping. Dave A's kick after the line "Oh, don't get behind, I can't fall back" is phenomenal. He's doing triplets with a single kick. Fuck.

As for best moment, the opening of Last Exit is so brutal and perfect for what's about to come. Sounds as fresh today as it did back in 94.

Best part of Nothingman perhaps.

When the drums kick in on Tremor Christ then into "Winded is the sailor"...
Or the intro to Corduroy. That straight up may be the best Pearl jam moment.
There's the dog. You can't fake that stuff. Confess with your mouth.

The sound of "nothing left to subtract", "scrawl dissolve", "THIS IS,THIS IS, THIS IS!!!, MYYY last exit". Really the whole album. The sound of the Immortality outro.

The lone bass line at the start of Tremor Christ followed by the extremely heavy drums that knock you over the head.

A hungry, propulsive rhythm section matched with shattered-glass guitar parts.

The bass and drums have an unflinching momentum that gives the music a feeling of determination. The guitars, by comparison, always sound on the verge of completely burning out. Occasionally, often just as they reach a pinnacle moment, they just short out completely and collapse (see: solo in Not For You).

You get everything you need to know about the album's emotional core just from the sound of it, without needing a single lyric or even a completed melody.

Well, that's a stretch. It's an interesting stretch, though, sort of like this-

The start of Last Exit knowing I am going to experience roughly an hour of excellent rock and roll music.

This, along with the subtle "immortality" Ed sings after the full band jams in the 2nd solo. :luv:

i'll decide...take the dive...
take my time...not my life...
wait for signs...believe in lies...
to get by...it's divine...whoa...
oh, you know what it's like...
turns the bow back, tows and...drops the line...
puts his faith in love and tremor christ...

The "it's divine" part still kills me every time.

Other fav's include Last Exit and Immortality in their total.
