I'd still like an answer to my question about who Stip would save.

I feel like I should point out that Parashar often (unfairly, in my opinion) gets the blame for the sound of Ten. His original mixes of that material, those we've heard anyway, actually sound great and I wish he'd had the opportunity to mix the final release.

It was Tim Palmer, a British producer best known at the time for working with David Bowie's Tin Machine, who mixed Ten back in the day and gave it that glossy, reverb-heavy sheen. He'd also mixed the Mother Love Bone record which I presume is why he got the gig.

While this is correct, they didn't like Parashar's production and recording style either, recording small bits here and there instead of full live takes. If you hear the masters from Ten, you will notice that the vocal and guitar tracks are chopped to death to get the best performance bits together, composed of small phrases, and lots of overdubs. While I personally think it worked quite well and contributed to Ten's signature sound, they didn't like that less organic recording approach.

Also, Tim Palmer can't be blamed entirely for Ten's original reverbfest sound. They specifically asked him that they wanted a big arena rock concert like sound, so they got what they asked for, it was their own fault. So yeah, this is probably closer to the truth:
