Post strike Tony Gwynn? I politely disagree and Gwynn is one of my favorite players of all time.

Sosa had a couple of insane years, it was a fine choice.

Gwynn in 97 was all batting average.

Sosa in 01 slugged .737

If we are going to compare apples to oranges-

Sosa had 74 less hits and only 41 more RBIs despite 47 more HRs, and 125 more strikeouts. All power, nothing else.

Different hitters baby.

You're absolutely right. But Gwynn's WAR in 97 was 4.3, and was 4.2 in 94.

Sosa's 2001 WAR was 10.3

So if this tournament ends up being alright and not a shitshow, I propose that whenever do another one, before we do other eras we do a Favorite Franchise Bloodbath tournament. Everyone assembles a dream team from their favorite team's history. No draft. We just have to decide if people who share favorite teams have to co-manage one team, or each put forth their own spin on the franchise.

We have to wait till they update the site with 2014 though, so I can have Jose Abreu and this year's Chris Sale.

With the very high odds of a chud-Kaius and chud-Argo match-up taking place deep into that tourney, it could be amazing.

I guess we'll just have to let you both submit a Red Sox team.
