You know, I find myself agreeing with stip a lot when it comes to S/T, but man, is he out of line on that post above.

I have to disagree as well. I think the quality of the songs on Yield are superb from top to bottom. Even the Red Dot, which could arguably be called a throw away filler track, is as good a filler track as they've done. I feel as if the band really reached out for something on this album soundwise that was that rare moment where a band experiments without jeopardizing their identity.

I don't even know how to begin to respond to that...
While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

all those yesterdays is inching towards that top group. The rest, not so much. Easily the most overrated group of songs amongst PJ fans (not the rest of the world), imo

More and more of the time, I see this as PJ's best record.

Change the chorus on Pilate to anything other than it is and the record is perfect from the quality of the packaging to the hidden outro track. Each track fits together but also puts me in a different place. Each song has its own identity, landscape and heat. Like Vitalogy the songs interact with the artwork and album concept making into a cohesive piece of work rather than a set of songs burnt onto a disk. You can't rank these songs as it would be like ranking the chapters in a book.

That last part really hits the mark for me. I can't really 'rank' the songs on here, in a way I could do for most of their other albums. Everything happening on the record manages to coalesce into this powerful, beautiful little statement (I don't necessarily mean they had a conscious point, but something broader and more ethereal).

And I have no issues with Pilate. There's no bad, or even blah, song on this record.

I originally thought it was "Like pilot, I have radar". That might have something to do with it.
