Is that first Chvrches song the album version? It sounds a fair bit different than the one I sometimes hear on the radio, though that may be my car's sound system's fault. I'm still not really a fan of the song in general, but the version posted in this thread does make it sound better.

Can I rejoin this? Please? After the 70's, 80's, 90's and noughties I can't not be involved in a draft.

Okay, rather than putting up several posts in a row, I'll try to place several observations into one post.
I'm not really a Black Keys fan, either, so I wasn't expecting much from "Weight of Love." It's got a nice groove going in the beginning, but the rest of it doesn't appeal to me. The guitar solo's an okay bit of pyrotechnics to liven things up a bit, and the discordant ending is another highlight.
"Rattlesnake" was okay; a little better than some of the other stuff I've heard off the new album. I'm still pretty disappointed that Annie's decided to go this route with her music. She had a lot of promise with the first couple albums, and there were hints of a more interesting direction in the third one, but now it's just trite.
Unsurprisingly, Heathen doesn't like "Holocene," which is too bad. It's a good song off a really good album, and one that was one of my favorites from 2011. Catch that little lyrical snippet at the beginning: "Someway baby, it's part of me, apart from me." A little nod to that Colin Stetson song that I picked, 'cause Colin is one of Bon Iver's sax players. Nice pick, LMS.
And another Chvrches song. I think this girl likes to hear herself swear, because that "fuck" sounded as out of place as PRAMG-Ed's little addendums. I think the other song's better, though this one does break them out of the "moody, chill-out" box that they seemed to fit in from the few other songs I've heard.
REM have always been on of those bands that are just "there"; I don't hate 'em and I don't love 'em. They've got some good songs and others that do nothing for me. This one falls a bit in the middle. I liked the long middle stretch of desert, but I was really hoping for a bigger payoff at the end. The video was neat, though.
This "Prince Johnny" song is really limp sounding, which I think may be what I'm trying to get at when I try to express my dislike for St. Vincent's current musical track. There's no energy here, which wouldn't be an issue if there was something else compelling to make up for it, but it lacks there as well. The melody is dull to the point of near nonexistence, and the beat is weak.
"Werewolf" is pretty sparse, but Fiona's voice carries it really well. She's still got a fair amount of power, which is nice to hear. It doesn't really sound like a standout track to me, to be honest, but it's not too bad.
"Sprawl II" might be the best song on The Suburbs, so good job there, Farmer John. This one is one of three songs that have been drafted so far, besides my own, that I knew beforehand.

This is the closing piece of the last Yellow Swans album Going Places, one of my favorite albums of the decade and some more. I can't think of a better swan song than that. Despite being a closer I think it works pretty well as an opener for my team. Play it loud, close your eyes and let the music dissolve you.
