I don't think The Sprawl has anything to do with Neuromancer

Weird that you don't make any connection between the two, considering the guitar lines on the song sound a lot like an aural representation of the fictional Boston-Atlanta Metropolitan Axis (commonly referred to in Neuromancer as "The Sprawl.")

yeah i wanted to believe for a long time they were connected, but the lyrics don't support it.

also, if this random poster on songmeanings is to be believed: "In Sonic Youth's biography, "Goodbye 20th Century", Kim says that this song is a compilation of various mumblings of hookers and junkies on Eldridge Street, which she wrote down. Although, the placement of the phrases is really thought-provoking."

either way, Neuromancer is pretty fuckin good. I'm torn between going back to the Sprawl trilogy or reading something more recent from him (I read Idoru recently and really liked it)

Oh, I don't doubt that at all. It's just that, when listening to the music that goes along with those lyrics, and taking into consideration the song's title and the band's history with sci-fi (wasn't Sister partially inspired by Philip K. Dick?), I can't help but feel like I'm walking around some gritty Sprawl street at 2:45 AM.
