Love the Civil Wars. Their cover of Disarm by the Pumpkins is great.
It's a lovely cover. The first time I heard it, I didn't realize what it was until the second time he sang the chorus.
I have soooo much listening to do. This draft came right at the start of the semester and Hil having work travel. I've been completely unable to keep up

Nopers - I was wondering why I had no idea what that song was. It's a good 'un. I'll have to go download 'em. I usually prefer to get standard editions to judge them on what got put out, like a bonus CD will somehow dilute the experience, or something.

HUGE SP fan so I'm iffy about Pumpkin covers but this is great. They harmonize perfectly. Her voice is like a warm hug on a cold night.

Absolutely. Like the best covers, they totally make the song their own. It doesn't detract at all from a fantastic original. But they manage to completely turn it into a Civil Wars song. It's lovely.

Their Billie Jean is great too. Not as great as Cornell's but few things are better than CC's voice.

I goddamn LOVE Cornell's Billie Jean cover.

It's certainly way better than his cover of "Ave Maria". Woof.

This is another personal song for me. I had never heard of Cloud Cult, but they were being interviewed on NPR a few months before my first child was born, and they played this song. It was really powerful, and this remains the song I most closely associate with her birth--the hope, anxiety, expectations, powerlessness, and desperate desire for something better.
