Re: Post-Strike Baseball Tournament: Play-in Round!
I'm thinking I'll run game three tomorrow before I go to the Maryland-USF game, and I'll run game four when I get back.
I'm still waiting for Baseball Stat Tracker to get back to me with my password so I can keep all of the tournament statistics up there.

Hey 4/5, I'm gonna run game three sometime between one and two tomorrow, so if you want to make any lineup changes let me know. I'll run game four sometime in the evening.
Game three looks to be Tim Lincecum vs. Barry Zito. Bay area Cy Young Award winners and now long-time teammates facing off in a big spot...

The lack of pinch hitting and use of bullpen at least based on righty/lefty matchups is a little disappointing.

And keeping a reliever in there who's getting smacked around.
But this is still pretty fun.

My team just swept the 98 Yankees. That makes my heart happy and I'm pretty confident baby Jesus approves.

And we all spent the last 8 rounds picking lefty specialists and pinch runners.4/5 wrote:The lack of pinch hitting and use of bullpen at least based on righty/lefty matchups is a little disappointing.

Re: Post-Strike Baseball Tournament: Play-in Round!
I drafted Kuo because of his dominance against lefties in 2010. Lefties were 6-63 (.095 and 28 strike outs) against him with just one (a double) extra base hit. I don't even think he has seen action yet in the 70 games I have simmed. NOT that this is isn't fun or that I'm complaining because this is amazing.....just something I noticed as well.
Most of my main guys can run well so the pinch running isn't a huge deal.

Not me!
I did that in the first 8 rounds.

Re: Post-Strike Baseball Tournament: Play-in Round!
Remember, we originally were only going to do 20 rounds of picks, but the site made us do 25.
That being said, I've been pretty pleased for the most part with when my pitchers have been pinch-hit for and how my bullpen has used. I figured pinch-hitters were only going to end up being used for pitchers, since we all have lineups that are essentially stacked with guys who you'd never pinch hit for.

Re: Post-Strike Baseball Tournament: Play-in Round!
Jeff Kent (7-11, 6 RBIs) & Buster Posey (7-14, 6 RBIs) are clearly my two best players.
Also...I'm starting to contemplate a rotation change, for strategic purposes. I'm still sticking with Johnny Cueto for game four, though. And I'll be keeping my lineup the same.
I'm going to run game four when I get back from the football game later. Did you want to make any changes, 4/5? Remember, you can bring Maddux back to pitch this game if you like, but if you do you can't bring anyone back on two games' rest for the remainder of the tournament.
To everyone else, we'll run game five tomorrow during the day, game six tomorrow at night (if necessary), and game seven Monday during the day (if necessary). If this series ends in five, we will run game one of each first round series tomorrow night. Otherwise, all first round series will start on Monday night. We're gonna go with one game per series per day, and if that is too slow for everyone we can switch back to a two game per day schedule. But yeah, your series may start as early as tomorrow night, so if you want to make any changes to your game one lineup or rotation, make sure you do it before then.
