ABnorman vs. theplatypus

Easy choice. I can't stand Titus Andronicus, I'm sick of hearing about The War on Drugs already, I usually like Tom Waits but that song is meh, boring St Vincent track is boring, Cults was annoying. That Japandroids song is pretty good. Jorge has a beautiful Eluvium track and a few nice enough songs around it and that's enough for this round. Vote for whore-hey.

LetMeSleep vs. DeLima

Some very good picks by LMS with the Kurt Vile, Nick Cave, BPB and Swans songs. Even Holocene wasn't as terrible as I remembered (or maybe I had it mixed up with something else from that album). And since I don't really care for DeLima's team the vote for LetMeSleep is a no-brainer as well.

FarmerJohn vs. numbers

numbers' team is pretty much my idea of music hell. The only redeeming thing about it is chud making an appearance at the start of the Shins' video. I don't even care to know what FarmerJohn's list looks like, he gets my vote.

Field Report – there’s definitely a southern feel to the back half of this mix. A cool combination of atmosphere and immediacy in this one.

They are wonderful. Probably my favorite band to debut the last few years. Whole debut album is great I think. New album drops Oct 7th. They are from Wisconsin oddly enough. Their singer and Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) use to be in a band together.

ABNorman
1. St. Vincent - Prince Johnny: Everyone loves St Vincent. I don't get the draw tbh. This is fine.
2. Tom Waits - Hell Broke Luce: I've always liked this song, its unhinged quality appeals to me.
3. Joanna Newson - Go Long: Joanna Newsom...I've tried listening to this chick but she bores me to absolute tears. Wake me up when this is over.
4. tUnE-yArDs - Powa: This is more interesting. Hadn't heard this before, quite enjoyed it.
5. Japandroids - The House That Heaven Built: This was OK, kinda fun.
6. The War on Drugs - Red Eyes: Big fan of this tune, nice pick.
7. Titus Andronicus - A More Perfect Union: Not my thing really.
8. Big Boi (ft. Cutty) - Shutterbugg: Also totally not my thing.
9. Sufjan Stevens - I Walked: This was pleasant enough.
10. Cults - Abducted: Meh.

vs.

Theplatypus
1. Neil Halstead- Digging Shelter: I'd never heard this before but it was magnificent. I like his other projects though, so little surprise I guess.
2. Janelle Monáe- "Oh Maker": Another chick that RM is in love with. This song was OK.
3. British Sea Power - Baby: This was a nice listen.
4. Elvis Costello- "You Hung the Moon": Meh. Christmas tune overtones.
5. Maria Pien - Pasara: Another lovely tune. This is great.
6. Eluvium - Happiness: Lovely and peaceful.
7. Beach House- "Myth": I think I have a crush on the lead singer. Nice tune.
8. Brad Mehldau Trio- "Baby Plays Around": Wow - up to a full 6 views! Pity really because those who aren't listening are missing out. I love this style of piano and strings.
9. Kishi Bashi- "Bittersweet Genesis For Him AND Her": Interesting ditty, nice enough.
10. Lisa Hannigan- "Little Bird": And another lovely little tune to finish.

Vote goes to plat who won this in a canter. Plat has one of my favourite teams in this thing.

LetMeSleep
1. Bon Iver - Holocene: A lovely little song. I do kinda get stip's comment that 'one Bon Iver song at a time is enough' though.
2. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Higgs Boson Blues: Love me some Nick. Great tune.
3. Bonnie 'Prince' Billy & The Cairo Gang - That's What Our Love Is: Got the 70s vibe going here. Peaceful enough.
4. Four Tet - Angel Echoes: Pleasant.
5. Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues: I'm not a huge Fleet Foxes fan, they never really go anywhere for me. This is one of their better ones though.
6. Kurt Vile - Society Is My Friend: I do like Kurt Vile's stuff though, generally speaking. This was pretty good.
7. Laura Marling - Goodbye England (Covered in Snow): This was fine if unremarkable.
8. M83 - Midnight City: This song is not bad.
9. The Joy Formidable -- I Don't Want To See You Like This: Meh.
10. Swans - No Words/No Thoughts: Didn't like this as much as The Swans song from last tourney. This kinda gave me a headache, although that's at least partly owing to the mood I am in today.

vs.

DeLima
1. Queens of the Stone Age - I Appear Missing: Loved this album and this song is a good 'un.
2. The Afghan Whigs - Parked Outside: This was ok but I kinda wasn't in the mood today. Perhaps I should stop listening for a bit and come back to it later...
3. DFA 1979 - Government Trash: See my comment for the song above. However I don't really feel that this would be something I'd be into regardless...
4. Kendrick Lamarr - Swimming Pools: This was an appreciated change of pace. Song's OK, I'm not a big rap guy but the anti-drinking message is cool.
5. Sean Wheeler & Zander Schloss - Song about Songs: Never heard this before, great lyrics and sentiment. I feel this way about songs. Nice.
6. Radiohead - Give up the Ghost: This was actually really great.
7. Mark Lanegan & Duke Garwood - Death Rides a White Horse: This is OK.
8. Pearl Jam - Falling Down: This is cool enough. Who are the Pearl Jams again?
9. The Black Keys - Little Black Submarines: This is a cool enough tune.
10. Soundgarden - Rowing: Not a big SG guy. This was actually kinda cool though.

Overall it's a vote to DeLima in a close one.

Farmer John
1. Arcade Fire - Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains): I like this tune.
2. Kanye West - POWER: Fuck Kanye West.
3. PJ Harvey - The Words That Maketh Murder: This was a big album last year. This is a pretty good song.
4. tUnE-yArDs - Bizness: Like the other tUnE-yArDs song I heard, I quite enjoyed this.
5. Feist - Undiscovered First: Love this tune. Feist is awesome.
6. Kurt Vile - Runner Ups: Generally speaking I'm a fan of Kurt Vile. This is kinda like your prototypical KV track.
7. The National - Bloodbuzz Ohio: Chud doesn't know what he's talking about, this song is great.
8. Cat Power - Manhattan: I really love Cat Power's voice. This song is great - love the vid too.
9. Half Moon Run - Full Circle: This one was a bit of a nothing song for me.
10. Wild Flag - Future Crimes: Meh.

vs.

Numbers
1. CHVRCHES- The Mother We Share: So. Chvrches hey? This is ok.
2. Vampire Weekend - Hannah Hunt: Eh. Also just OK.
3. Portugal. The Man- Got It All (This Cant Be Living Now): More safe middle ground fare. The vid was gruesomely fun though.
4. Foster The People- Coming Of Age: Stock standard stuff. Such good looking people in the vid.
5. The Neighbourhood- Sweater Weather: Inoffensive.
6. MS MR- Hurricane: Unremarkable.
7. Max Frost- White Lies: I enjoyed this one a bit more, I've always been partial to decent pop.
8. Phantogram- Fall In Love: Back to the safety zone.
9. The Shins- Simple Song: This was not bad.
10. Arcade Fire - The Suburbs: This is my fave song off this album. Nice pick.

Vote goes to Farmer by a nose.
