Yup. Correct on all accounts.matt reeder wrote:As a Cardinals fan, Game 6 is for me the greatest moment in the entire history of my baseball and sports fandom. I'm sorry it had to be you guys. You were a great team, with good fans and a group of players that should have won a title. Too bad it wasn't against the Yankees or the Red Sox - that is the only thing that would have made that title sweeter for me.Iholdthepain wrote:As a Rangers fan for over 30 years, my baseball heart was severely broken in 2011...
I haven't been a fan of any professional sports team on the same level since then...
My Dallas teams are all making it very easy to not give a shit anymore!
F Nellie Cruz!
F Nefti Feliz!
They ruined me in 2011, and St. Louis should never have won that World Series![]()
Loved Wash, Loved Johnny Oates, and even loved Bobby V.
JD is a great GM, too. I just wish he and Nolan could have played nice.
Oh well, we got (worse than) Bill Bucknered, and I doubt I'll ever be back as a dedicated fan after that... the worst sports moment I've ever seen... Game 6
The thing you have to remember about the 2011 Cardinals - that team was a team of destiny if there ever was one. They just were not going to lose once they made the playoffs.

The Mariners/Blue Jays four game set in Toronto in a week and a half could be huge.

Despite trailing by 3.5 games, that series gives the Jays a fighting chance to claw their way back in, but they'll have to take at least 3 of 4. Detroit and KC playing another series against each other helps.BigRedLedbetter wrote:The Mariners/Blue Jays four game set in Toronto in a week and a half could be huge.

Not as badly as the A's have. I find it absolutely amazing that the first Wild Card spot is suddenly within reach.Bammer wrote:The Mariners have decided to start shitting the bed.philpritchard wrote:Despite trailing by 3.5 games, that series gives the Jays a fighting chance to claw their way back in, but they'll have to take at least 3 of 4. Wow. crazy stat. That is a sick ERA in the AL.Lament wrote:Chris Sale's ERA is back down to 1.99. He could become only fourth AL starter to finish with an ERA below 2.00 in the last forty years (Guidry, Clemens, Martinez).

I saw the other day that the Angels are 8 games up now. Wasn't it like two weeks ago that they were tied heading into a weekend series against each other?philpritchard wrote:Not as badly as the A's have. Re: MLB
So this pitcher from the brewers named Fiers just broke Giancarlo Stanton's face then hit the next batter in the hand also next to his face.
Then the umpires called the guy out on strikes.
Human Element.
This should be an interesting aftermath.
Probably the best hitter at least in the NL out and a long rehab ahead him. That sucks.

Nice to see some love for our captain from outside of the immediate fanbase...

I have tickets to see the Sox next Friday against Tampa. I was really hoping to see him play one last time, though his hand injury is making that look really unlikely. It's gonna be weird next season without him around.

McCutchen and Buster Posey say hello. Agreed though you never wanna see an injury like that. Feel bad for the dude.Electromatic wrote: Probably the best hitter at least in the NL out and a long rehab ahead him. That sucks.

As much as Chris Davis has been pretty awful this year, losing him has to hurt for the Orioles.

It does. Pretty inexcusable. It was to treat his ADHD I heard. Still you get a list of what you can and can't take. Moronic move.philpritchard wrote:As much as Chris Davis has been pretty awful this year, losing him has to hurt for the Orioles.

To make matters worse, he has applied for (and received) and exemption to use it in past seasons. He just didn't bother to get approval this year.BigRedLedbetter wrote:It does. Pretty inexcusable. Re: MLB
These kinds of things always seem sketchy to me. It seems like every time someone's caught for using amphetamines they've said "I had an exemption in the past and forgot to get it renewed this year." I'm usually all for benefit of the doubt when it comes to steroids, but it's hard not to view that as bullshit. It just seems like such a convenient way for the player to come off as remorseful and accepting of the punishment while at the same time claiming it was just an honest mistake.BigRedLedbetter wrote:It does.
