Re: 2014 NFL Season
So if the NFLPA does their job and tears apart Goodell's knee jerk reaction to media backlash and gets Rice reinstated after 6 games which playoff team will pick him up for the playoff run? He could really fit nicely on say.... the Colts.

Wasn't he pretty mediocre last year? Combine that with the lack of game shape he'll be in (and his age) and I think it's pretty plausible no one would pick him up (and that's not even taking into account the massive negative PR hit they'd take).

He was mediocre, but someone would pick him up. He just wouldn't be paid a lot or get that much playing time.Lament wrote:Wasn't he pretty mediocre last year? I wonder if Tony Dungy would go on a nationwide tour trying to convince people to sign him.

I say this every time he has a big game, but I am so glad that little fucker Sproles is out of the AFC West.

Not sure why the Colts abandoned the pass for the most part. Luck is an accurate passer and can make almost any throw on the field. Leaning on Trent Richardson means you deserve to lose.

That last drive of theirs was mind-boggling.Mecca wrote:Not sure why the Colts abandoned the pass for the most part. Luck is an accurate passer and can make almost any throw on the field. Leaning on Trent Richardson means you deserve to lose.

From the Bills thread regarding replay on TDs/turnovers. Help me out here.

Ok, so you guys won and deserved that game and should have won by a lot more, really. BUT...that Sammy Watkins "TD"...how did they not even review that? For the life of me I can't imagine how the booth/NY didn't tell the ref to go take another look at that.
But good game. At least we only have to play you guys twice a year. We'd be like 1-15 otherwise.
The ref on the field didn't go review it. The booth/NY reviews it quickly and then informs the ref to review it on the field if it's close. Is that not how TD/turnover reviews work?

Re: 2014 NFL Season
Philbin can do nothing but get a penalty for throwing a flag for delay of game because the play is automatically reviewed. They can't start the PAT without a thumbs up from the review official. You'll see the Ref listening to his earpiece to get the okay to continue the play or if it needs a second look. If there was nothing suspicious, then they whistle the play to continue.4/5 wrote:From the Bills thread regarding replay on TDs/turnovers. Help me out here.

the ball is still in his hands and is only loosed when it touches the pylon, which is breaking the plane

Re: 2014 NFL Season
Right and I think that play was way too close to not be reviewed. He bobbled the ball at the 2, so you have to decide whether he regained possession before he fumbled it again at the pylon. I can't see the images you posted because I'm at work and that sort of thing is inexplicably blocked.Mecca wrote:Philbin can do nothing but get a penalty for throwing a flag for delay of game because the play is automatically reviewed. My opinion is just that it was too close to not take a couple of minutes to actually review.

you're not wrong in that its close, but if you watch the replay of it in slow mo, its not really a question. He regains control, extends it and only loses it again when it physically hits the pylon.

Re: 2014 NFL Season
Now I can actually see this image, guess it was an internet connection issue. That angle doesn't show anything, really. In fact you can see one of his hands isn't on the ball securely anymore. When I get a chance I'll try to find the reverse angle. From rewatching it about 40 times on Sunday it appeared that he basically dropped the ball onto the pylon. IMO the only question was whether he had control of the ball ABOVE the pylon BEFORE dropping it, or if he lost control prior to the ball touching the pylon or being above it.Mecca wrote:

My internet connection is really bad right now, I can't load anything at the moment. The best angle was from the back corner of the end zone on the side he was running towards.

re: the watkins td... while he may've been losing control of the ball as it broke the plane, based on those pics, it doesn't look indisputable enough to overturn the TD call, so that's why it stood.

Go to about 1:00, it shows the angle I'm talking about on the replay. It's really close and worthy of an actual review IMO. That's all lol. Sorry for torturing you Mecca. Enjoy your victory, your boys beat the crap out of Miami.

Preach it, Nate. You were a good Bronco and even better advocate. The NFLPA is going to seriously regret not getting cannabis completely removed from the list.
