Game ones are not kind to the Garainals, are they?

Also, Albert Belle is systematically annihilating pitchers in this tournament.

so far in this tourney, good hitting has defeated good pitching. we've had very few low-scoring games (though I was held to one run once...)

It looks like a lot of the starters are getting knocked around in the first inning or two before settling down and pitching a handful of solid innings.

We've had a handful of really strong outings by starters though. I know Maddux embarrassed my team in the play-in round. Buehrle had a good start in there too. I think Pedro, Schilling, Scherzer, Carpenter, Loaiza, Glavine, and Clemens have all had stellar starts. But yeah, pitchers are having a rough go. These lineups are tough though. You've got great hitters in all eight spots for the most part.

Looks like

Verlander vs. Willis
Carpenter/Schilling/Scherzer/? vs. Santana

for game two. Santana is another pitcher who had a great outing last round.

I feel like 1995 Albert Belle is a HR-hitting glitch that some Indians fan at whatifsports.com secretly sneaked into the code.
Side note, I was looking up Albert Belle and happened to notice that he lost the 1995 AL MVP Award to Mo Vaughn. More importantly: MO VAUGHN STOLE 11 BASES IN 1995! That blew my mind!

I think (and I could be completely wrong) that even most Red Sox fans at this point acknowledge that Vaughn winning the MVP award over Belle that year was an absolute joke.

It was ridiculous, Belle completely dominated that year.

Oh, please. Mo Vaughn stole 11 bases in one season. AL MVP? That man was cheated out of the Nobel Peace Prize that year. Mo Vaughn!

The bad blood between the Garainals and The Chudville Nine is enough by itself to make me hope we have additional tournaments at some point after this one ends.
